About Me:
I live in Austin, one of the best cities in the United States. I hope the raw food lifestyle will pick up here a bit more, but until then I am content with what I've found and making my own garden. I wish to maintain this for as long as my body sees fit. Inspiration is always welcome!

Almost 4 months...time flies

Well its been about 4 months (in a week) and I am still loving everything about this lifestyle. I still find it very eye opening and enlightening. I feel like a different person physically, emotionally and spiritually. While everyday I have eaten raw food, I have not eaten all raw food, all day most of the time. There are lots of days though that I do eat nothing but raw foods, and these are by far my favorite! I feel like I can control my cravings and push back any urges. I start thinking about… Continue

my body is a green machine

So it had been about a week or so since I started my day out with a delicious green smoothie. I was missing them ever so much and decided this morning I needed to make one and start the routine again. I feel outstanding today! I love starting my mornings out with one. I feel fueled and energized. My friend asked me how I was today and I replied "GREAT! Well as great as I can be at work..." and she thought something was up and asked me why my day was so good. I told her I just felt great because… Continue

Yay Raw!

So far everything is still going great. This weekend I went to the local Austin farmers market and was pleasantly surprised. I knew they had organic veggies and fruits, but I was happy to see a stand by the Daily Juice, which makes raw juices and has some raw snacks. They were selling raw coconuts cut open for you to sip the coconut water out with a straw. It was delish and perfectly refreshing under the warm morning sun. I later found another stand with a woman selling raw…

Dates taste like caramel to me

It's day 7; it's already been a week! I am still very content on eating so pure and I am also proud of myself. It's been mostly easy, with a few cravings here and there, but nothing near what I expected. I made delicious crackers, red pepper hummus, and raw "pop tarts" this weekend. They all turned out delicious, except the pop tarts were a little sweeter than I expected, so I will probably treat those more as a desert item than a breakfast item. Still not sick of the green smoothies. Another th… Continue

Juicy!

Today is day 5 and I woke up craving clementines like no other. I hopped out of bed, grabbed some and they were the tastiest thing ever. To quote Regina Spektor, "so sweet and juicy!" I like this craving way better than my usual Saturday morning craving for a breakfast taco.

So far things have been going well. At times my stomach feels a little interesting, but I'd like to think its the detox part. At least I hope that's what it is. The second day I was able to resist mac n cheese from… Continue

Next year, it will be in Santa Barbara, California, which is right on the beach. So that should be a lot of fun. Bring your boogie board.

The Spirit Fest was awesome! I remember when you wrote that you it seemed awfully expensive for a weekend affair, and it probably was, but it was a great time. So many people, and everyone was really nice. Great food, great music. It was just truly marvelous. It's a shame you weren't there. One of the high points of the trip was meeting so many of the people from this site. I posted a lot of pictures from the trip. Actually, my profile pic is also from there -- from a hike that we had went on. The scenery was breathtaking. If you've never been to Arizona before, you must go.

I've been better. I just lost literally half my 401k in a couple of weeks, due to this stupid market crisis. Where's my bailout money?

I'm not in the best of moods lately. But I'm glad all is well with you.

I loved Christian Bale in American Psycho. Such a sick, twisted movie (based on an even sicker, twisted book) but that was definitely a great performance. Whenever I see Bale as Batman, I still think of him as this psycho running naked in tennis shoes and carrying an electric chainsaw in his hand.

I listen to a lot of NPR too. When I drove cross country a few years ago, NPR was my saving grace. The middle of the country is filled with radio stations that play nothing but country or christian. It was driving me nuts. NPR was the only thing I could listen to.

And I don't mind country, but I like the classic stuff like Willie Nelson or Waylon Jennings or stuff like that. Modern country does nothing for me. And the christian stations kept talking about homosexuals like it was the worst evil that ever walked the earth. It was crazy.

I'm glad you liked Wall-E. It was so good. Have you seen any other films this summer?

You gotta see Wall-E. So good, and very much in keeping with the themes we raw foodies all share: pro-environment, pro-exercise, anti-corporate, anti-junk food. I really enjoyed the film.

Also, that is mad cool that you know about the Spankers. I would go to Austin for that one lonesome reason, just to hear them play for a week. They were actually just here on Friday but I couldn't make it. I've seen them play before, though. Not sure you'd go for their music since I don't know what you're into... their sound is not your traditional radio-station music. But, hey, I dig it.
