i'm with you on the greens. but i have found grass-fed meats offer similar things. i think its because the animals eat TONS of wild greens/grasses.. so i think its the high mineral content (or something) that gets into the greens. i don't really eat meat much. neways, yes... greens are awesome. i find even eating a bunch of steamed broccoli has that similar effect. or steaming greens like chinese-style. a bunch of good bok-choy for instance. just my 2 cents. check this out:

Hi Jon, this is what I wrote earlier on this forum about cooked Quinoa,
I love it! :
Benefits:
Quinoa has no "gluten";
Glycemic Index is 35 (which is low);
Quinoa is an alkaline food, regarding most sources (not acidic..)
Further:
One of the reasons is that you can mix in so many raw-foods...
You have to treat it the best way you can, like a lover:
* Soak overnight in water with some vinegar (1 tablespoon per persona..)
This is to get rid of the anti-nutrients, which avoid absorbtion of minerals
(Quinoa has no "gluten", so you don't have to get rid of these..).
* Rinse in the morning several times, to get rid of the saponines...
* Cook (1 amount water on 1 amount of quinoa) for just seven minutes, don't take the lid of the cookinginstrument
* Wait for 10 minutes, leaving the lid on the cookinginstrument.
Now you have the best Quinoa ever..
* Mix a lot of raw foods in your quinoa!
I eat it with foods like this mixed in:
Avocado, spirulina/chlorella/vitamineral green, coriander-pesto, herbs, spices, garlic, miso, artisjok, sundried-tomato, horsheradish, Madame Jeanette pepper, olives, capers, fresh dulse, garden-cress, ginger, sesameseedpaste.
There is nothing cooked that can compete with this (if there is, please display here...)
Succes, LL

hey Jon how are you doing? I was wondering if you're going to the Raw Spirit festival. I haven't bought the tickets yet but I might take the bus there since airplane tickets are becoming expensive.
Hey jon-wondering what you decided re incorporating some quinoa, beans, etc into your diet? I am reading Thrive Diet and for me, incorporating some of these foods might be the way to go. I am trying it now after 3 months raw. Wondering what conclusion you came to- i too was leery of eating so many high fat foods.
Jon, it was great to meet you. I'm definitely gonna look into your funky vibram shoes. You brought a lot of knowledge to the retreat. Next time I'm out west, I'll definitely give you a buzz.
Jon, you rock. I am glad I had a chance to meet and learn new things from you. If you're ever in NY and have time give me a holler. Maybe, I will see you when I finally get out to the west coast. BIG RESPECT. Gil
