hail to the young one's!

the city is in my profile is manchester, uk. i was attending a cousin's wedding.

it seems that you are a pretty active person, what do you eat regularly so you don't lose weight on raw foods, instead gain weight.

holla!

I'll add- people on SAD are told to take fiber, as fat in diet is undesirable to them. Fiber absorbs fat. When I went on lots of raw fat, I switched from salad and steamed vegetables to lots of green juice. Maybe cutting out that fiber helped my dietary fats be more available to good use.

You're welcome Cory :] I'm glad you're finding some support here. A lot of people do not know how to listen, or maybe they just aren't the right fit. Whatever their problem is, we can only be (comfortable at being) ourselves.

I don't think avocados have saturated fat, but I do like them. I haven't eaten a lot of them during this time, they were helpful to me before, but not as much as my more saturated fats.

Oh, I am unusual, I could monomeal on a plateful of large whole avocados. Years later when my appetite was smaller, I might eat a whole meal consisting of only one small avocado. I almost always have coconut oil in the house, but I use it for my cooked family. It's great for people who are sensitive to the less saturated oils. I prefer if I can get organic fresh coconut, and run it through the juicer, and I eat the cream that comes out the juice end. I eat it in a meal consisting of only one or two other foods. I eat fat in a 50/50 ration to the food I'm eating it with, for optimum energy, etc, except for fruit, I eat a much lower amount of fruit. For some people, the medium chain fatty acids of coconut oil are perfect. For other people it might not work maybe even at all. I do better with long chain fatty acids of pasture grazed RA(F). I eat as much as I feel will make me feel best. I'm not sure how to tell you how much YOU need. Eat slowly, your satiation level should tell you. Day by day you will learn more.

Raw fats don't usually cause weight gain, if you maintain your carbohydrate intake very low (under fifty as little as grams/day). With all your exercising, I do not think it will be a problem. Have you had a weight problem? Coconut oil is good for the endocrine system, I think it will help you maintain the weight level that's best for you.

You're very welcome :) I hope you're now back on track with a new good start

Hey Cory,

It sounds like alot, I know. And to eat 21 pieces of fruit in one sitting probbaly would be a lot. but you can spread it over the day, perhaps having several smaller meals per day. It wasnt so much a recommendation for you to eat as much as me, as an example of how much more fruit you might need to eat than you are doing in order to make 811 a viable option. Eating lots of fruit is inevitable on a raw 811 diet, since without fat as a source of calories, carbohydrates are the only option, and specifically, fruits are the only raw option for those carbs. Since fruits are much lower in calories than fats, you need to eat an awful lot more than you've ever been used to, to get enough.

I do recommend reading the book some time when you get a chance, just so you can understand why it can be an optimal approach to proportioning your calories.

I understand though, it can be expensive. Fats are certainly much cheaper than organic fruit produce and so in college, on a limited budget, it could prove more economical for you that way. Perhaps just bear it in mind for future experimentation, when you have a bit more money available :o)

Take care and good luck.

I hope your knees are better Cory. Have a great day!

I know people who the only RAF they eat is chicken and its cartilage, specifically for knee repair from injury (very active extreme sports people). I'm not expecting that you want to add that, but just in case. I know my joints including knees feel better and work better eating lots of saturated fat that I've been doing the last couple of years. It helped from the first week. I'd had different knee things (clicking, pains, etc on and off) for over thirty years, including knee swelling and fever there especially in the last few years before I started these raw fats.
