100 Day Raw Challenge

Heaven comes in a UPS box

Dates are an important fruit to raw foodies especially medjool dates!  They are like the king of dates.  I get mine dates at Whole Foods — they are $9/lb but they are worth it.  I secretly give anyone in my house the evil eye if I think they are eating too many.  Don’t they understand?  I neeeEEeeeed [...]

Snapping out of it

Note to self: snap out of it.  Now more than ever I should be taking the best care of my body that I can.  I know how to do it: as much fresh, whole, organic fruits as I can and as many vegetables as I desire.  I corresponded with Dr. Graham this morning and he reminded [...]

When Mind Over Matter Isn’t Working

The first day of the juice fast was a cinch.  The second day was easy too until the evening.  I had drank all of my juices before Howard came home and well, he wanted company while he was eating so I figured a salad wouldn’t hurt. I should have just said no.  I should have just [...]

Minimizing Emma’s Gluten Intake

Someone asked me how I minimize Emma’s gluten — gluten-free bread and gluten-free pasta!  These would be her only two sources of gluten at home since we don’t buy any crackers, pretzels, cookies or cereal.  I got the idea to do this after reading a few books last year on raising kids raw.  There are some clear [...]

First Day of Juice Fasting: Piece of Cake

This is just what I needed.  I owe a big thank you to that inner voice that took the initiative to order the juice on my behalf.  She is one smart chick and apparently knew just what I needed. My husband and I love to ski.  We typically take one ski vacation a year.  We aren’t experts [...]

Day 101: The Struggle Should Be Behind Me

Okay, I thought I was done with this whole “struggle” thing.  I gave myself a little time off — not for good behavior but because I was trying to go easy on myself for good (but personal) reasons.  I promised myself that the pity party was gonna end last Friday but now I am finding [...]

Day 100 - The first day of the rest of my life

Wow.  A hundred days.  Doesn’t sound like a lot of time but it was enough to make a huge impact on my life.  I am still getting over the news of a week ago Friday but I am feeling much better.  I am back raw and for the first time in a while, I am [...]

Thrown for a Loop

Well, I came back from my sales meeting on Wednesday night feeling really great.  It was an energizing meeting and I was just so pleased that I handled the food thing as well as I did.  It is just exhilarating when this becomes easy. I even weighed myself Thursday morning…141.5, just a half pound from my [...]

Day 89: They get me, they really get me

I am at a sales meeting in Nashua, NH.  Usually, these things are hard because there is so much crap around.  Why must event coordinates bring in gigantic cookies and tons of chocolate to these meetings and feed us every two hous?  Is there a rule somewhere that says you must pump attendees full of [...]

Day 88: In case of emergency, read this!

Today, Bunny posted my video about “What Being Raw Means to Me” to the main forum page at Rawfu along with this message: “There was so much packed into this video that I really want you guys to hear. Deborah talks about words like self-esteem, relationships, feeling confident, and then mentions her weight loss almost as [...]

Hi Deborah. I have been veggie for ten years, a "healthy" veggie (making all my cooked food from scratch) for a couple. I have been raw for about a year. I am not 100% raw. I have a couple of all raw days a week, the rest of the time it is two meals out of three and raw snacks. The non raw is sometimes steamed veg or something cooked from scratch. My aim in eventually to be about 95% raw, leaving 5% for social events. I have really enjoyed reading your blog. Your dinner party looked fabulous!

I try to. She is pretty much 100% raw when she is with me, but my mom and grandma watch her when I am in class and our definitions on healthy eating differ. I send her with plenty of food every day, but last night when I picked her up she was eating pea casserole with some mystery cream sauce and cheese. Bleh. My grandma was so proud that she was eating her peas. What difficulties are you having?

Ooooh mint sounds goood! I'll try that for sure. Great suggestions on the veggies. Curious, has anyone ever tried adding almonds, or oils to their juice? To avoid the sugar spike? Does that work well?

Thanks for those great recipes! They are all exactly what I'm looking for. I'm just starting to juice, and I've been eating like 50% raw, trying to eat more raw, and juice fast at least one day a week and juice 2 meals a day, with raw meals as much as possible in between. Any suggestions on a Pre-Bedtime juiced drink??

You have a cutie!
I have a 4 year old daughter too, along with a 6 and 8 year old boy and girl.

Thanks for the friend invite!
