I haven't been able to use computer for a few days -- I've got this weird healing crisis going on (since that's what the diseases are :-) ).
I'm sending you an e-mail through here -- check your mailbox (on here).
yes, there are about maybe 500,000 Koreans in Russia, who've been there for generations -- our ancestors moved to the Russian Far East region in the early XX century, and then Stalin dislocated most settlements into the desert-like hear of the country: he was paranoid and a a maniac, other than that I'm not sure what his reasons were.
But yes, Russia is very,VERY multi ethnic and multi cultural, in the area where I grew up there were about 100 different ethnicities! (But that was a very dense and diverse region, not all of Russia is like that; culturally, I lean towards middle east.)
What about you, are you of one single ethnicity? I'm as clueless about Malaysia as you're about Russia. ;-D
I agree with you on the literature: I love books for the message they transmit, beautiful language is a pleasant add-on. Weirdly, when I try to write, it's more about the language (I tend to be fascinated with how it weaves, curls, knots and unfolds), than the content. I've not tried writing anything in a while.
Are you in school now? what are you studying?
I've been close to all raw since January this year (I've had a few days when I would "go back", but I do not hate myself for that.) How about you?
I am yet to taste the oh-so-famous durian. I hear a lot about it, yet haven't had it yet. Am I in for a surpise?
Megre's style is terrible -- you do not write books in a language as his. I love literature, so... But yeah, there's a lot that gets lost in translation -- and I know because I went to a linguistic school to train to become one (which I didn't.)
I wish I spoke Korean, I don't: my family has been in Russia for four generations now, and we lost our language and a lot of the culture during the Soviet years.
How about you, how many languages do you speak?
It must be beautiful (and beautifully warm) in your part of the world. I am thinking of traveling to the Far East and South East, and maybe to the down-under, if I get a chance.
