Hi everyone,
I am new to the raw/vegan lifestyle and absolutely love it. Went 100% raw 2 months ago (minus maybe a few dried herbs I can't be sure of) after an 11 day master cleanse. I've lost 20 lbs. and my blood sugars are down from over 200 to 96. I took myself off all meds for diabetes, gout, pain, and depression. I'm still feeling the effects of going cold turkey (especially the Effexor), but I don't care the benefits are already too enormous to turn back now. My Dr. is amazed and confused. She says she isn't sure that what I am doing is going to be healthy in the long term scheme of things. I had to laugh and remind her that the way I was going I had no long term scheme except stroke or worse. Well, I still have a long way to go before I am completely healthy again, but for the 1st time in years I feel the fog I've been living in is lifting and I finally have hope. I am from New Orleans, but moved to a small rural town outside the city. I love where I live now. Clean air, clean delicious well water, but there are no vegetarians much less raw/vegans. So, I hope on this site I might meet some supportive new friends that I can exchange thoughts, recipies, etc... about my new and oh so exciting lifestyle.
