I've been a raw foodist for 6 years now. I have made it a point to research and educate others on this healthy lifestyle, and my path is constantly renewing and invigorating me on a daily basis.
My current occupation is Academic Dean at a business college in Jacksonville, FL. From this position, I have many resources for this type of research, and currently I am in the research phase of writing a book on raw foodism (Oh no!! Not another raw food book!) Actually, this one will be different, I promise :-) And for those who can appreciate a sardonic nature in writing, then this very book may be speaking your language.
How can the community best support you in your journey? (moral support, transition advice, fitness tips, etc)
The community can support me by simply "being".
Relationship Status:
Single
Favorite Raw Food or Recipe?
Coconut samosas, sweet curry vegetables, topped with mango chutney
Interests (outside of Raw Food):
Educating, writing, heavy metal/jazz/new age, the New York Mets, snowboarding, reading, traveling. Sometimes I put tin foil on my head and pretend I'm invisible. Other times I sit in the Liberty Oaks Tree Park and read the day away. I still love Transformers (best toy ever made) and slowly my students are coming around on the Monty Python thing. I am confident the "Dennis Moore" skit will win them over. hahahaha
Update - 12/13: They liked the Dennis Moore skit :-)
Also, I am very athletic and look to keep all sorts of activities going. I climbed the hills and moutains of coastal Spain in slippers and flip-flops. Even got lost in the jungles of Guam, scaling waterfalls and mountains with gloves and swordgrass as my only friends. I still have yet to ride down the side of the Grand Canyon on a donkey ... patience, young raw foodist, patience.
Life is interesting me, thus far. I used to hate it. I resolve myself not to view it in this light anymore, but always remember the feelings I had at that time of hating life. By remembering it, I am forcing myself to recognize that at one point I "was" and now at this point I simply "am". Forgetting such ill memories would dilute my perception of how lucky I am now in this state. So many positive things have happened over the past few years ... had just one of them fallen out of place, I may have missed this raw path completely. Who says the Universe doesn't take care of its own?

I think it's because you can actually heal people. Once you have done that a couple of times your reward will be a fully functioning individual. It's like a karma thing..
Are you into sprouts? Just think of women as baby sprouts that you have to nurture to blossom. Not everyone can be at your level. They need time and a safe place to blossom.. You can be that sanctuary and create what ever you want..

Thank you! Glad to help! It would be really difficult to stay raw without all the info from people on Give it to Me raw. I feel great! I think once you get going its easier to stay raw. I'm so glad I found this lifestyle and esp. now! I think it was the perfect timing for me to find it.... but hey when is it not the perfect time to begin raw! Lol. How do you like being raw? How has it changed your life?

Hey Ian! Thanks, and yours in the picture is adorable too! Cool about the tabby litter. Yours looks just the way mine did when she was a younger kitten.
Hey Ian! That is sooo cool that you spent your summers on LBI & Point Pleasent!!! Such a small world! Haha I am probably the ONLY raw foodist on LBI since its a huge tourist area for of course, fudge & chowda lol!
I haven't read that book, however it definitly sounds like something I would be interested in, thanks for the suggestion! I will have to make that my next book when I have some extra time and I will let you know what I think about it!!
I see that you are in the process of writing your own raw book...that is so exciting!! Good luck with everything, and definitly let me know when it comes out!
I lived off of Walsh Street, walking distance from FCCJ. Ever happen to stumble in a place by the name of Solid Gold? I used to dance there. I love Eclipse, thats a great place to hang out. I love that whole area, I miss it sometimes. Not enough to leave here though.
