Former award-winning Wall Street stockbroker turned inspirational speaker, author, blogger and the first deaf pilot in the world to earn an instrument rating.
I just started the raw/living food journey on September 6, 2008 and am eager to meet other raw foodists from the Akron/Cleveland area. I'm also interested in branching out and connecting with others from around the world who have been on this raw food journey for some time.
How can the community best support you in your journey? (moral support, transition advice, fitness tips, etc)
I absolutely love green smoothies and invested in a Vita-Mix, which has already transformed my life in major ways. I'd love to obtain recipes (esp for the Vita-Mix) and learn how to prepare very simple raw food meals and gradually work my way up to more complicated meals, providing, of course, I am interested in expending the time and effort to make such meals. I've also just started to experiment with juicing (Nov 2008) and bought a cheap juicer to start with (Juiceman, Jr). Any advice, ideas in that area would be GREAT.
I'm also very interested in transition advice as I've only been on the raw food lifestyle (I'd say 90% raw and 10% other foods) a month. I know David Wolfe suggests that we don't fast until after 6 months on the raw food diet but I'm experimenting right now with a 1 to 3 day water/lemon juice fast after being on raw foods for a month. Interested in purging remainder of waste in my body and get to optimal weight for my height, etc.

I'm here in youngstown as your neighbor basically.
I was unawae of the potluck, I'm performing Saturday night unfortunately in Mecca. Any future ones out there by chance??
Hi Stephen, thanks for stopping by at my page. I got lost in your blog, you are a beautiful person, so full of energy and inspiration, I feel really grateful to have come across you. My job is to help people with disabilities (at the moment I work with spinaly injured people).
Your blog is great, so ful of information, enthusiasm, warmth, love for life, energy... I'm sure your lectures must bring people back to life :)
Here are answers to the questions you've asked:
1) layout on my page - I've set this up few months ago and since then some things on this website has changed. But I think you'll get there this way:
go to: 'My page' -> 'Settings' (on the right) -> 'Appearance' (on the left) - and choose your layout (there were quite a few to choose from)...
2) Photo album - this should be pretty straight forward
'My page' -> 'Photos' / 'Photo albums' (on the left underneath the profile picture) - upload photos
3) London - raw restaurants
have a look at this link http://www.rawreform.com/content/view/246/134/
there are 3 listed cafes/restaurants for London, but I must admit, I've never been to any of them. The place I go to when I've got the time is a place called 'InSpiral Lounge' an its in Camden High Street. (Camden Town - underground station). link: http://www.inspiralled.net/
It's a nice and cozy cafe, they've always got selection of raw salads, and delicious deserts!
Maybe next time you're in London, let me know and we'll go there for a shot of wheatgrass :) Have a great rawcking day :) Lucia
I got my coconuts from a friend who went to a bigger city nearby and got several cases. If you go to a bigger city and can find an oriental grocery, they often have them there.
There is some discussion about whether they are dipped in chemicals or not, which wouldn't be good, so I use them occasionally, but not often. There are some "organic" ones around too, if you get in on a large order, but then you pay shipping and they end up costing quite a bit. I've not done that yet.
Ever since I took 3 ASL classes in college, I've loved it. It felt like it spoke to my soul or something. I guess I"m a more visual person, and when I'm in ASL mode, my brain seems to calm down.
A few years after I graduated (with art--there was no ASL degree at my college at that time) my professor started a program at another college nearby and I started in that program, only to quit when I met my husband, got married, had kids, etc, 11 years ago. Now he started the program at the college I went to, here in town, and last year I started that program (thinking my marriage might not last, due to some behaviors), but now things are going better and I decided to put it off AGAIN because I am homeschooling, and dont' think I can do both. I want to be present for my kids while they are young, so maybe I will be an INterpreter when I am 60!! LOL That is my dream. I enjoy chatting with Deaf people, and I'm excited whenever I see someone signing, so that is why I asked. Sounds like you had a good experience in the oral world? I know its really hard, and not many do well with speech, so your success is really impressive, and I'm glad you've been able to relate to other deaf people who know ASL too. Do you feel accepted in the Deaf world? Sorry if its too personal a question. I took an AMerican Deaf Culture class last Semester, and there was a lot of discussion about issues like that.
Well, anyway, that's my story. :) Thanks for the friend invite.
Well it was such an impulsive decision to go. I booked the Tuesday before the festival, and thought I would do a bit of 'shopping'.
We need to take more pictures for the memories. As time goes by, you will recognise some of the other rawfood super dudes in the pictures. Watch the avocados as well. Have you ever used Nutridiary?

When performing, I refer to my second job of playing guitar is all.
