On the advice of my aunt, I bought a neti pot. I must say I love this thing far more than anyone should love something they use to pour fluid up their nose. I, like all the descendants of my grandmother, have very sensitive sinuses: my nose is always faintly stuffy and I get splitting sinus pain whenever the barometric pressure does anything odd (we're all better than a weatherman at predicting storms). I've been enjoying doing pranayama exercises but they're kind of hard with an eternally stuff…

I'm setting into a new school schedule.
Sticking to a largely raw diet has been pretty easy so far this term most of the time, although I do make some compromises (I don't think the hemp milk I like to use in my chocolate-banana near-milkshake treats is raw, I still can't kick coffee).
I've been experimenting with juicing. I've discovered that 1. I don't like chard juiced. It's gross. 2. All kinds of juiced kale--green, dinosaur--are love, 3. apples makes the best green juice sweetener but car…

I have become a green juice junkie. It's like really bad. I mean, I'm walking around the house chugging kale juice straight and my roommate thinks I've gone mad (it is better with a lemon, but I really wanted that nice shot of GREEN). I brought a kale, lemon, and carrot juice with me to class today and my classmates all, like, STARED (...it did look kind of like mud). I have also realized that this semester is going to be a challenge for me in terms of eating schedules. Lately I'm eating a lot o…

So I am home again now and, thanks to my wonderful boyfriend, have a stocked fridge. Not fully stocked, mind, but it's a little bit much to ask him to do my big restock for me. Still, I have kale and lemons and apples and spinach and frozen strawberries and fresh bananas and carrots and corn and walnuts and hemp seed milk and celery and garlic and oranges and tomatoes and cabbage....I have things to juice and things to blend into a green or a fruit smoothie and things to eat out of hand, things…

I have been drugged by a pastrami sandwich. I tend to minimize my consumption of meat (and never ever in my house), but it was my boyfriend's 27th birthday and hence his grandmother took the whole family to the recently reopened 2nd Avenue Deli in NYC. I'm not sure it's possible to eat cooked vegan there, much less raw. I have, therefore, consumed more meat today than I usually eat in six months. It's never a good sign when food makes you groggy. My green smoothies, ect, don't make me groggy. Th…

Hope to see you this Saturday March 29th at "Successfully Raw!”
Glad we're all working on it together,

i saw your struggle with meditation, and i completely empathize, but keep working at it. i read a really cool book specifically for women regarding meditation and realized that a lot of little things i do throughout the day are actually a form of stilling my mind, like my quiet and rhthymic hikes in the morning, and sitting with a cup of tea. . . not necessarily in lotus pose listening to deva premal!
maybe you could find a surrogate cat to snuggle with?!
nice to meet you. . .
x
