Hi Siobhan
Was just reading your blog. Great stuff! Keep it up, i'll have to come visit your garden when i'm home, i'm trying to get a garden going over here in LA in a small patch of greenery where i'm staing now, no idea where / how to start, although I've grown a tray or two of wheatgrass indoors and will try adding buckwheat and suflower sprouts to the mix.

Hi siobhan--Im new to the site and just trying to touch base with others in Ireland; Im from the states, but living in Dingle the past 4 summer, and now staying through the winter, and in fact indefinitely, for the first time. Compared to at home, raw fooders seem to be few and far between here, though I know it is starting to come on. Anyway, feeling a bit isolated in terms of raw food (and vegan) solidarity, so trying to make contact with others here. I know you are up in the Northwest and Im down in the southwest, but if youre ever down this way, would love to touch base. thanks. kaybee
Hello Siobhán Im from Ballymena but I´ve been in Mexico city for 4 years. I go back to to Ballymena about a month or 2 each year and although im new to raw it has always been difficult to go back home and change my diet and i miss all my lovely fresh local exotic fruits. Its good to know that you guys are surviving rightly there though, it gives me the assurance that if i wanted to go back some day for good I could and i could still be raw! Thanks, Gilly

Hi Siobhan
When is the Sligo event? I don't think I 'll make it back til mext Spring now, will there be another event then? If not we'll have to invent one. Have fun Ann
Hello Siobhan ~ you have lovely photos! i prefer natural lighting whenever possible - i do use fluorescents as well indoors but never flash. I don't like filters on the camera at this point but will keep you posted. I used to do product/people photography years back. Actually food is the hardest!
Thank you for adding me....look forward to reading/seeing all you are doing. You have a WONDERFUL garden ;-)
Hi Siobhan, My family and I moved to an area just above NO in St Tammany Parish. I live in a more rural area where the air is cleaner (lots of pine trees) we also have a better source of water (well water) which was tested to be very good especially compared to the city water. By the way, I hope you didn't drink that stuff. NO water is straight from the Miss. River. It's a real toxic soup. I feel sorry for anyone who is forced to use it. I'm glad to hear you got out before the hurricane. It's no fun staying in a hotel w/out electricity. I must sound like I don't care for NO very much, but on the contrary I miss it a lot. That is why I couldn't move too far away. My parents grew up in the French Quarter I learned a lot from them and it made me appreciate our beautiful history.Of course a young history compared to your country, but a colorful one. I hope you enjoyed your stay and if you ever get back look me up. Love, Louise
Hi Siobhan, This is Louise outside New Orleans. Wow, I hope you enjoyed your stay. You are so right N.O. is not very conducive to a vegan lifestyle. It is probably one of the most unhealthiest areas in our part of the U.S. People here are so proud of their local cuisine and boast about having the only original cuisine in the United States. The "Creole" cuisine. I understand the pride and I love the area I grew up in as much as anyone here, but the area is so far behind the times and it really shows up in all the health stats. We are the leader in heart disease, most cancers, and type 2 adult diabetes. I know because before I found and implimented a raw food lifestyle I was a part of those stats. I hope as my health improves God will use me as a beacon of light to people I know and love. Maybe it will even start a domino affect who knows? Anyway, thanks for writing it is always nice to meet new friends. About my garden, well the most recent hurricane that hit last week pretty much destroyed what little I had. I started small because I am new to gardening, but next year I am enlarging. I see you have an impressive garden and greenhouse. Any tips on organic gardening would be most appreciated. I am still so new to this whole gardening thing especially organic, but I love it and it is helping me to lose weight and become more limber not to mention it helped in the pocketbook. Thanks for getting in touch with me. All my best wishes to you, Louise
I have just returned from 10 days off-island for a short family break. There was plenty of rain while we were away which was good for the plants.
However, my nicely netted brassica bed was covered with hundreds of caterpillars - they have come from nowhere. Arghhhh!!!!! Looking online it looks like I am not the only one as many allotment holders have had a bad run too. Have you had any/many in Ireland?
I am going to let them finish their job and then clear the bed. Thankfully I have started a few more seedlings in the greenhouse before I went away and hopefully not all is lost.
Hi Siobhan
Your photos look great, that all your own produce? MY family live in Galway, when I visit, thats where I am mostly, don't know what the raw scene is like there now, we shall see
