Hi Richard :) Congratulations! Welcome back to the raw tribe :) I like olives and I <3 sesame. I did that too, young raw, married, hard to get back, health went down. Farmers markets are fantastic! Oh, i'm sorry about the macrobiotic. While I was in my twenties and raw vegan plus a little honey occasionally my beautiful friend was raw fruitarian to the death. Made me so lonely and realize people have to follow their hearts, not some guru. I've fasted three weeks, but two weeks is better for me, if at all, better sensible eating and sensible life. You're daily salad sound delicious :P yum. I eat avocados plenty, eat what feels good, not what someone says is healthy. The word 'healthy' has become perverted. Raw fats can help heal the liver. You're so welcome!
Hi there! I'm six weeks into an ALMOST raw diet, eating lentils & black beans once a week ... I use olive & sesame seed oils when needed ... 40 years ago, when I was twenty-something, living in Phoenix, I ate raw foods (mostly fruit) and fasted occasionally (as per Arnold Ehret's "Rational Fasting") ... I ate this way for seven years, never felt better (but what twenty-something DOESN'T feel good?) until I got married, dropped the whole diet thing, and now I'm paying the consequences. I live in a small rural town in South Carolina these days, retired, living alone and do my shopping at a local farmer's market where fresh greens are plentiful ...
Anyway, I found out "back in the day" that dietary extremism is self defeating (I almost died on a Macrobiotic diet) ... what is needed is a little common sense: if you want to fast, fine ... three day fasts are harmless, but 40 day fasts are just a tad too far "out there" ...
I LOVE avocado with raw garlic, tomato, and sprouts ... I eat that once a day ... too much oil? I couldn't care less! I am a recovering addict with 20 years clean; after 25 years of putting all sorts of substances into my body, a little extra oil doesn't amount to squat in the big picture.
Thank you so much for your response!
