About Me:
Konichiwa, bonjour, hola, kia ora, namaste, ni hao, and hurro! How's it going? :) Greetings from NZ (New Zealand) !

10 years ago I decided to change from eating non-organic 3-meat-and-veg (lots of meat, dairy, and eggs) to eating organic and vegan and then raw (living) vegan foods. I've benefited a lot from each of these 3 choices, and others around me have learned some new things about food and health.

I first learned about the raw vegan lifestyle from finding some of the classic books in a local public library (!). Last year I discovered that now, since the internet has become more popular, there are various raw vegan communities on the net, and reading about some of the modern things that raw vegans today do/eat (eg green smoothies, wild edibles [weeds]) increased my interest in living foods, so I increased the proportion of living foods in my diet - and was able to sustain a high-proportion-RV diet much easier than eating only/mainly fruit as I did in the past - to the benefit of myself and others around me. Yay! :)

During the past 10 years I wasn't 100% RV for 100% of the time (despite trying a few times), but recently I've sustainably increased the proportion of RV foods in my diet, as a result of learning about some of the relatively modern RV practises (eg green smoothies, wild edibles [weeds]). I've learned that a wide variety and amount of living foods are needed for a high-proportion-RV diet to be sustainable. A wide variety of (organic) fresh fruits and lots of (organic) fresh greens are needed. Blending sprouts and greens (with fruit or by themselves) is something new I've done recently, which has made consuming a large amount of RV foods (especially greens) much easier and more sustainable for me.

[ Did you know that almost all "weeds" are edible & nutritious & are better in many ways than commercially-grown (even organic) greens? Some people call edible weeds "wild edibles". Many "weeds" have good therapeutic/medicinal properties (if consumed in sufficient quantity). There are 300 varieties of grass, and they're all edible (according to Sergei Boutenko) - now I eat my lawn, instead of mowing it (seriously!) - no need to sprout wheatgrass, providing your lawn grass is growing in soil that's clean of chemicals. In the past the weeds in my vegie garden I treated as enemies, and I pulled them out, but now I let them grow and treat them as food - this is a much much easier and less time-consuming way of growing food - no "weeding" required! Imagine commercial farms not needing to weed or use weed-killer chemicals (herbicides), but instead harvesting the weeds and selling them as additional desired crop! If there's enough demand for it, it'll happen ... ]

[ Also, did you know that avocadoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins/squash are fruits? Botanically they're all fruits, although culinarily they're considered to be vegetables. Pumpkins & squash can be eaten raw, and shouldn't give you digestive problems etc. ]

Health improvement was my primary and initial reason for becoming raw. Our health (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) is so important! Eating & drinking lots of greens (salads, smoothies) has resulted in significant improvements, more than eating lots of organic fruit has. Recently I've been growing greens, herbs, and weeds in my small garden, so now I have a huge variety of fresh organic greens, available ultra-fresh, conveniently, and at very little cost. Yay! :)

Besides eating living organic foods as much as possible, I also avoid junk/bad/non-organic/non-nutritious "foods" as much as possible. It's worth it! :)

Although food is very important (for one's own health, enjoyment of life, the health of our environment, ethics, & sustainability), I also realise that food is not the only important thing in life. Other aspects of our lives also need attention. :)

awe! what a nice thing for new zealand to do for me :) i will definitely need to send a thank-you note!
i'm sad i am missing the summer, i waited so long for it! but it's nice here - there is some snow and its crisp and cool. i've been snuggling up with a book for some days, others i try to get out and bare the cold. it's not bad to run in.
i'm still looking for a job. any suggestions?! maybe cirque du soleil is hiring!
that is good that you are sticking to the greens. i think tonight is a green smoothie night myself. since i've been home, i've been obsessed with pineapple, i don't know why.
well, hopefully i will see you on msn again sometime. i need to remember to go on at night sometimes... mental note.
take care,
