I'm Like A Snake with An Itchy Tongue

RAW Days 60-65
My new raw life continues to float along swimmingly. In the past week, five people have remarked on my weight loss and one person came over to specifically remark on the glow of my skin. This all becomes more significant when you consider that I haven't told anyone other than direct family that I am eating raw, and I really don't know very many people. In other words, pretty much everyone I'm encountering is noticing. Very nice indeed.… Continue

What was missing in my approach to intuitive eating

This is from an entry on my blog today:

Intuitive Eating is based on how the human body is designed work. There is a need for nourishment, and you provide it. The goal is to neither over or underfeed oneself. There are no food restrictions because the idea is, the closer you get to listening to what your body really needs, the better quality food you will give it. I mean, could a body really want or need a nutrient-free twinkie? I don't think so.

But at first, when one comes f… Continue

Cleansing

Since going raw, I want everything clean, pure, raw, uncluttered. I've never been a fan of the xmas season, and now all the excess and noise seems even more annoying, unnecessary, and harmful.

Wow, I'm sounding jaded but I'm really actually feeling clear and content.

Going raw has made me want to clean up my entire life.

I went through my google reader subscriptions and let go of every feed that didn't support a raw lifestyle or I used to read even though they'd bring… Continue

Superfood and Supplements - I've got so much to learn

I've been eating raw vegan just a few weeks and I know it's time to learn about superfoods and supplements. Anyone who reads information on a raw lifestyle knows you encounter a lot of contradictory information about what you should or should not eat/ingest and why. I actually find this encouraging because it tells me that there's no one right way and it's up to each of us individually to discover what is right for our own bodies.

Since I started eating raw, my appetite has dropped cons… Continue

Small /wonderful raw world and my beginning

I'm only recently raw so I spend a lot of time web surfing for ideas, information, and inspiration. It's so fun to look through the membership here already and recognize so many people from their blogs and testimonials. It's wonderful.

I first attempted going raw about 15 years ago when I was cooked vegan. There was so little information then and a lack of creative recipes that it was hard going. The only thing I ever saw go in a juicer in those days was carrots. Things have com… Continue

Hi Melissa! I saw your post where you mentioned psor - there are so many theories from fat and protein metab, to parasites, to heavy metals. Ive had that since 16, been raw 6 yrs and it's still the same. For me i think a 3 mo juice fast is the start to clearing it out, and mercury removal might be necessary. Love to brainstorm-share this process with someone if you have any breakthroughs!

Hi Melissa! I was recently at The Tree of Life in Patagonia Az. If you haven't read Gabriel Cousens books you should get one like Conscious Eating.Anyway, most of the people there were there for a short term program and it seemed like a lot of people would put a couple tablespoons of spirulina on their salads. Combined with olive oil and maybe apple cider vinegar. They'd put it in smoothies too. The dispensary ran out of Spirulina and it was almost like a panic went through the place..

There are soft hemp seeds that are sold that are really good. I can't believe I left a bag there! But if you can get your hands on some they are so great and versatile. You can use them in soups, puddings, smoothies, graveys, sushi, etc. They don't have much flavor but take the place of rice but with a lot of protein and nutrition.
Raw cacao is also a big hit. It has 300% of dv of iron in a small serving so great for women- not so great for guys long term.
Good luck with everything!
