Its always hard to try and summarize yourself in a paragraph but here goes nothing... I grew up in the Northwest surrounded by the elements of mother nature and a wonderful family. After many years of journey hopping from state to state, my education and job status landed me in various locations. Some I really enjoyed and some not so much, but each place taught me valuable lessons about friendship, spirituality, life and living in the moment and most important love. I recently and enthusiastically left Las Vegas where I was pursuing my dancing career( and no not that kind of dancing) performing in a wonderful show as well as doing outside gigs for various music artists and performance groups. Although I will miss dancing for a career I'm ready to make the shift and focus on my other passion sustainable interior design and working on starting my own raw food dessert line. Exciting!! Its good to be back in the Northwest surrounded my all the things I love, trees, water, fresh clean air, fresh fruit and vegetables picked from the back yard and of course good friends and family. I decided to become vegan about a year ago and by accident walked into a vegan raw food cafe and fell in love. After a lot of reading and research, I decided to become 100% raw about 2 1/2 months ago so this is all still very new to me. However, the excitement of all the new textures, flavors, physical and mental changes that I've already experienced are completely blowing my mind. I look forward to talking with others in the raw food community and learning from their experiences.

Favorite Quote:
I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.
I have been allergic to gluten for many years and kept it out of my diet completely. I recently changed to a 100% raw foods lifestyle and was wondering if anybody had experiences incorporating sprouted wheat into their diets although they had sensitivity to wheat when on a cooked foods diet?

Hello fellow NW-WA girl! I feel the same way as you about this place. I grew up here, too, and feel lucky to be surrounded by the elements of mother nature & my family.
hi laurel!
as a "recovering ballerina" i totally get putting the dance away for a bit in order to pursue other passions. haven't quite made the leap to veganism or raw yet but the discipline and pure health benefits of it all certainly appeal to someone of my mindset. just wanted to say 'hi' and 'welcome.'
Hey Laurel, welcome to the community! I absolutely adore this place. I really understand what your saying about being ready to focus on your passions, thats where i'm at in my own life. There is nothing better than waking up and the feeling of the day excited about what life has to offer.
. Everyone around here is so in tune with what's going on in the world and what they want and need to be in life. It's even better when you meet them and realize yes these people are real and oh so divine (and often kinda hot!)
Oh yeah and the desserts things...if you ever decide to sell your product in NY. You should know that there are some sweets foodies on here (myself included) that are willing to be taste testers and they can be pleasantly brutal with honesty....what i'm trying to say is....bring your desserts to NY so a girl can get something new to eat :-D
Welcome Laurel! We appreciate you being here with us and would suggest that you just jump right into the community! This is a warm space so there is no reason to be shy at all. Make friends, start a blog post, create a group, or post questions on the forum page. Enjoy!
