Ive been doing reserch on the raw food diet for about 3 years now, it has always interested me, and it always felt right for me. Today was my first day going raw, although I have to say it was a challenge. I woke up and had a power smoothie type thing.
2 handfulls of spinache
1 handfull of strawberries
3 tbls of ground flaxseed
lil bit of water, and a couple ice cubes.
I have had green smoothies before, cuz i love them, so I drank the whole thing no problem. A couple hours later, I already was…

Just wanted to stop by and say hi. Saw you live in LV, that must be cool (at times). I was just there, though only for a few days :-) I don't think I could live close to the strip, maybe somewhere out in Henderson or something.
I know you feel alone in your raw journey... as i did. There is plenty of support here when you need it.
Try and search for RAW foodist in Vegas? I never thought there would be raw foodist in Scotland but this site is living proof there is!
I would love to see Vegas
Peace

In the beginning there were days I felt like I was starving, days I felt nauseated, days I was underhydrated, and days I forgot to eat because my body was satisfied. Eating raw presented a big learning curve for me and I didn't trust myself enough to eat based on what my body needed. I kept turning to the raw communities I'd met for advice, which was wonderful and confusing at the same time. When I felt I was starving I was told I was eating too little AND that I wasn't really hungry. When I was worried about my lack of hunger I was told not to worry because calories don't count when you eat raw AND I was warned to eat foods higher in fat to get more calories AND I was told that eating raw foods high in fat was a mistake and would lead to poor health and weight gain. When I hated certain foods they turned out to be foods other raw foodists swore by.
I say all this to tell you that the raw food journey is individual, that the community is filled with people with different opinions and levels of knowledge. A lot of what you do will be of your own invention. While you learn from others, you will also have to trust yourself and not try to fit into some mold. Pay attention to what your body is telling you. If you are hungry, attend to your hunger. If you are not hungry, maybe you really don't need any more nutrients right then. By the way, I don't take for granted that the raw diet I create for myself is the healthiest for me, so I have no problems seeing a doctor for the occasional blood test. I tend to be anemic, for example, so I have to remember to eat more iron-rich foods. I love seeing how changes in my diet have made positive changes in the invisible areas. Last year I saw a nutritionist for three months in order to learn the conventional views about vegetarian eating. I'm all about self education and learning from personal experience.
Anyhoo, I'm again transitioning to raw, so I'm going through the learning curve of discovering how much to eat to not feel hungry, and learning to drink enough water. Going raw is even more fun this time because I know more and am not comparing myself to some standard of what my experience "should" be. I pay attention to any weirdness I feel - I don't assume all my symptoms are from eating raw. I know that my day to day experiences I won't necessarily be like those of other raw foodists, but I still enjoy hearing their stories. I LOVE eating raw because it makes me feel so much healthier and positive. I am also much more alert and focused now- crucial qualities for a doctoral student! If you want, you can connect to me and a bunch of other GITMR members on twitter.com. I find the feedback and comments there motivating and helpful. I'm rawallison.

There were some foods I didn't used to like which I now do. As your body changes it tends to like different things.
