I'm a calm, quiet, goofy, extroverted, fiddler, guitar fumbl'n, piano chord pound'n, singer, song writer, timber frame cabin builder, raw vegan (nearly a fruitarian), beekeep'n, Volvo driv'n, movie watch'n, book read'n, sauna tak'n, creek dunk'n, landlord, RN, gardener, who loves the sun and has good credit. I'm deeply spiritual but not very religious and like to talk about the underlying purpose of life. I try to keep my body fit and am carving on my soul to loosen it from the attachments that keep me from being truly free. Under all of the details of day to day living I posses a boyant faith. I believe that our bodies are designed to function properly and we need only do our part. I believe that we are capable of healing ourselves...emotionally and physically. I believe that rocks are alive and have a soul. I love other peoples dogs. I have loved my cats and my chickens though I didn't initially think you could develop a relationship with one. I love goats. I believe that free will, the grandest and most terrifying of gifts, has given us the power to be as holy or depraved as we like. I love to be hypnotized by a camp fire. I think the scariest thing the teacher ever said was that we would be judged by our own words. I like Yoga and its 8 basic tenants and consider it my other religious leg (one from the east and one from the west). Now I have two. Now I can learn how to walk. I love reading near death experiences and consider them as close to a primary source document as we have concerning what lies beyond this life. I believe we are evolving spiritually as a species. I long to be in this body what I believe I already am at my core, pure love.

I am coming to see that we are f-14 fighter jets taxiing on the runway squabbling over parking spaces. I am noticing we have wings now. Whenever i point this out to others they are disturbed. I have even gone so far as to suggest we can fly to some. When I say this they point to our wheels and are convinced that if we were meant to fly we would not be equipped with wheels.
you know, i have experienced what you are talking about re pineapple. i can eat a whole one, no problem, but sometimes towards the end, it just doesn't taste as sweet.
so if a fig isn't a fruit, what is it? aren't they pollinated by wasps?
no juicer, sowee...but i love melons!
yea, this is my first RSF, it's gonna be pretty dope. looking forward to your performance! i've heard about the energy vortex in sedona, and that it's quite a beautiful, magical place. if you are interested in bunking with us, talk to nancy directly as she has all the info and details. i just left a comment on her page, you'll see her name at the top of my profile.
enjoy the solar/stellar rays, have to admit i'm a touch jealous, it's been forever since i've gone camping. i need to make a trip to one of the hot springs around here. ^_^
your reaction re scotchbonnets (i.e. habineros) is exactly how i feel about thai peppers! scotchbonnets don't seem to affect me in the same way as thais do, though.
i agree re apricots: the ones with the rosy blush always catch my eye and tend to be tastier. same for nectarines and peaches. so you had the astringency with the figs, hmmm? i know if they are not really ripe, they can make the inside of your mouth raw and shredded. i like them when they're fat and dark and yield to a gentle squeeze. a little drop of nectar clinging to the bottom is also a good indication that it's ready to eat. :)
can you tell me more about this flavour change concept when you mono eat as well as the reasoning behind monoeating? i am still working out the kinks of being raw, i consume mostly fruits, vegetables and seeds but i will occasionally eat grains like quinoa or cooked brown rice. i don't think i can be fruitarian right now, it seems my body hits a wall every 3 months or so, where i am not getting the proper balance of nutrition. so i'm experimenting right now with the combination that works best for me. lately i've been avoiding chocolate and nuts which is working really well. they tend to make me lethargic and i think they're a bit addictive.
have yet to try dulse with flax oil, but i'll keep the tip in mind, thanks! i don't generally purchase flax oil because i like to munch on the crackers and figure i'm getting my flax intake that way. also a big fan of hemp oil, coconuts and avocados for my fat sources.
this book could be the one you were thinking of, but i've also read articles elsewhere that attest to the same. essentially when they ran CAT scans on monks who have spent the same amount of time meditating as Olympic athletes do in training, they discovered that the part of the brain that is associated with parental love, compassion and caring lights up much more strongly and quickly than those who have only done a weeklong crash course in meditation.
LOL - i JUST noticed what time i sent the first message. you know, synchronicity never fails to amaze me with childlike wonder, no matter how many times it happens. :)
i'll be in sedona in september, are you going? i was supposed to bunk in a bed with nancy (she's on here too) but she's not going now, so we need to find someone who will take her place. we're staying at the rad thursday, friday and saturday night. probably going to have to pull an all-nighter on sunday and then come back to cali on monday. i should probably put a post out on this site. i LOVE cherries, i could eat lbs. of them for dayz and dayz...was snacking on dulse last night. :) nori/laver is also yummy, i grew up eating that stuff. i always considered myself a connoisseur of all things spicy and i can hang with scotchbonnets and cayenne but thai peppers burn on the way down and out if you catch my drift. they kind of upset my stomach; sometimes i'll suffer, though, just because they're so good. do you find they have an almost floral taste/smell in the mouth? i do, but i also think ripe bananas taste the way nail polish remover smells (yuck)...
apricots are awesome, i like the blenheims the best, though they are quite delicate and bruise so easily. i'm waiting for fresh figs to come around. :) '
your book sounds interesting and you just hit on one of my all-time favorite topics: the science of spirituality. the more we discover, the more we understand that the two have more in common than we could ever imagine (i think there may be a supernova orgasm of sorts in the works, heehee). i've been reading a book by yongey mingyur rinpoche, a tibetan buddhist monk, called "The Joy of Living,"...he has been working with neurologists at the Mind and Life Institute and does a wonderful job explaining the brain and how meditation affects it in layman's terms
awww, thank you for the sweet sentimemts! :) my day is going well, thanks! i'm at work, just ate some white peaches and apricots for breakfast, sipping on some organic jasmine green tea. i'm going to try and catch a movie tonight called "the fall," and hit cilantro, the raw restaurant by me, for some guacamole and salad. :)
the weather has been "june gloom" lately, which is typical for san diego at this time of year but today is pretty sunny! might hit the mediatation fellowship tomorrow night and definitely do some housecleaning over the weekend. i've been lax on the yoga lately but i'm thinking to hit up the morning class tomorrow and although i'm a lil scurred to show up at my studio after this hiatus, i'm pretty sure it's just my mind-chatter talking nonsense.
Hey Jennifer,
It's going great! I love your page, so many deep thoughts there... and your soooo cute too.
I am on day 3 of Bikram yoga, a little sore but still willing to keep going, and the sun is scheduled to make it's debut appearance in earnest starting this week, I can even see it this morning. Not an unusual occurrance in Sun Diego, but pretty darn amazing here.
What's happening in your world today?
