Just curious... where do you go running?
As for the dressing: my favorite salad is a greek salad - no olives or feta cheese. So I slice tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, (a little onion - just to finish the ones I had), a little parsley (cannot throw it all out!), and romain lettuce... and for the dressing I have to admit I put a bit of celtic sea salt... but just a bit, 4 - 5 grains; this is much less than what I used to use... and about 1/2 teaspoon olive oil (have to finish it - will not throw it away!) Today I finished olive oil and so now I will be finishing flax seed oil ... but only about 1/2 teaspoon a day... once I will finish it - I think I will be fine without any oil - tomatoes add to the salad the appropriate 'sourness' and juiciness... and so it's very good. This has been my favourite salad from my childhood - and I am nicely surprised to see it is quite frutarian - and in accordance with 811. I think a bit of oil (like 1/2 tsp) once in a while is allowed in the 811 book.
What about you - do you have any favorite recipes or dressings? Good night, Nettle
P.S. One of my friends just blends 1/2 lemon and 1 orange or grapfruit & a bit of an avocado and uses this as a dressing. I have not tried it, yet - but as soon as oranges will be again in season here (Canada) I will start juicing them & using them for dressings.
I have a half marathon scheduled for November so I will start "training" for that next week. I can walk that far if I have to...
I've been on vacation in Oregon so I haven't run for the last three weeks, I have been doing two hour bike rides. There are over 30 miles of bike paths here and I try to take advantage of it when I can.
I am heading back to SD this weekend, so vacation is over. It looks like yours is just starting, good for you!!!
How long have you been running?
And, let me say it again, for someone who has had a couple of boys, your body looks fantastic. Mine hasn't been that trim in 19 years.
Keep up with the running and keep in touch
And, I love avocados and olives and have a hard time staying away from them, so I eat them in moderation. But, it is surprising how much fat you can end up eating when raw if you don't watch it.
I'm a chef at heart so I have a hard time when I am creating dishes to not eat them all at one sitting. Discipline, Discipline, Discipline. If I keep repeating it maybe it will sink in :)
Well...I rather like it! I don't agree with Dr D on raw sprouted wheat - I still have some once a week or so - but most other elements of the 811 I'm right there with, I've become 'Bananawoman' and I'm even planning a 'Fruit and Leaves' class this Autumn! However, I'll still be running my standard 'transition foods' class and not all the recipes on the Blog and e-zine will be 811, as not everyone's into high fruit... I'd say most of my days in the recent month have been 811 days, bar a potluck I hosted recently, where I ate just about everything in sight... and I love my own flax crackers, so...I'm probably 80-10-10 80% of the time. The great news is that Dr Doug actually lives in the UK for several months a year and this Saturday I'm going on his picnic and walk and am very much looking forward to meeting him. So - see you on veg source (must admit don't post there much as find the layout somewhat confusing!). My passion right now - sharon fruit (and I'm sorry to say that in the UK these are the usually non-organic, chemically-ripened (!) versions of persimmons!)
and re: that vegsource thing...just left a bad taste in my mouth...couldn't help myself, in the end :o)
