About Me:
My name is Alicia and I’m a third year in college. My raw adventure started in December 2007 when my roommate first introduced me to the notion that there were people out there who were only eating RAW foods. Needless to say, I starting doing a LOT of research, found GI2MR (yay) and set out to go 100% raw for a month on January first. I only lasted twenty days until a camping retreat for my job prevented me from being able to eat raw. When that was over I started eating a high-raw diet with the exception of some sporadic binges.

I’ve struggled with eating disorders for quite a long time. I bounced from dieting to some form of anorexia then bulimia for a short span in high school into a long pattern of diets and binges It’s a vicious cycle that has haunted me for WAY too long. This site has really been the first place where I’ve found others suffering from the same unhealthy relationship with eating and trying to heal themselves using raw foods. I’m so grateful for this connection. Living with Binge Eating Disorder can really make you feel isolated so it's really a comfort knowing that I’m not alone.

I did my first master cleanse in June '08 and since then it's been a lot easier to stay raw. I still make some exceptions but when i do eat cooked food, it's mostly simple, nutritious food with few, quality ingredients. I look at a food and think, "how is this serving my body?" If it's not, then I usually don't eat it. Of course there are those exceptions and times when I treat my body badly unfortunately. I try to learn from those times and move on with my life.

I’m no overnight success story, in fact, I'm far from it. I’m still fighting by disordered eating ideas and patterns and I might always be to some extent. I don't know how to define my raw style anymore. I feel like a fraud saying I'm 100% although most times I am. I don't want to be defined by my eating habits anymore. I'm tired of letting them hold me back or be the cause of isolation and guilt. For now I am just enjoying my raw foods, educating myself, experimenting with new, fun recipes & trying to make peace with my body & my eating habits.

I just had a sort- of brilliant idea- lets take all of the processed foods in the grocery stores and feed the starving world with it, on donation of course, and NEVER MAKE PROCESSED FOODS AGAIN. what do you think? thank you for being here. I probably have an eating disorder but I deny the thought and focus on controlling my cravings and on being okay with not being perfect. My whole problem is that I think about food too often and even when I am not hungry I often feel like eating. Mostly out of boredom, procrastination, nerves, or to drown some other icky feeling- I try and control it and do something else, like you suggest on your blog;. anyhow, have a beautiful weekend :) with love and peace, rachel

Hey there! I just saw your comment on my wall...sorry it took me so long to get back to you. This round of 811 is going fantastically! I am findin it just so incredibly easy. It has been a cinch to stick too, I am eating tons of fruits that I love and I don't spend much time in the kitchen. My next personal challenge is to increase the exercise. That has been a bit tough lately. How are you doing?

Nobody is perfect! I haven't been the best myself. Its difficult to stick to when everyone else wants to do so many other things. I am generally trying to stick to the 811 path with green smoothies, fruit meals, and salads. I think there is a lot to get out of it. I just got the 80/10/10 diet book. It is awesome. The testimonials are really inspiring. Not only do I need to stick with the diet but I need to perfect the lifestyle. Exercise, sunshine, and everything that comes with it. I feel like I am really missin' out on the full potential. I really want to get up to San Fran sometime to go to Cafe Gratitude though. It looks like the best restaurant ever!

hey girl! im sorry for getting back to you so late..but, well apple cidar vinegar highlights your hair, but Ive read that it is better for brunettes, and it brings out your nature hair highlights, but im sure you could try it. going out in the sun, i found, enhanced the highlights more but It definitely works without sun as well. yeah i know what you mean about the lemon juice, but i dont think you have to leave it on the whole day. its the same thing with braggs, i would leave it on for maybe 2-3 hours. But if you go out in the sun, it'll def work better..and i actually slept with acv in my hair once, and it came out really nice the next day, but i understand it gets kinda yukcy and then people are like EW you smell haha

so i would try a few hours like i said, sun is not needed but much better
