Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me! I'd be in the same boat as you...all that planing would slow me down for sure! I think i'm just going to try to eat as simple as possible, you said that to me the other day...but I am starting to realize that I really should keep it more simple than I have. I did make a raw pizza yesterday and it was good - but Very heavy! I at less of that though, than I would have if it were cooked pizza! Anyways, I will talk to you soon :o)

Hey Lee.... have you been following 80/10/10? I am interested in learning a bit about it...but at the moment, I can't really afford the book. If you have time, could you just give me a brief overview of what it's all about?? Thanks!

Hey Lee,

Lol, no not new age stuff. Im not really into alot of that either. Makes me nauseous. The Waking up one, is by a psychologist called Charles T Tart. you would really like him actually. He's really into Parapsychology and Transpersonal Psychology, and so he's been responsible for a significant amount of the research done on psychedelic drug use and altered states of consciousness. In this book, he talks about consciousness, and gives really interesting and useful explanations of it, which Ive not heard the likes of before. Its abit Gurdjieffian, but he basically uses the metaphor of computer programming for states of consciousness, and conditioning. He talks about psychological phenomenon, such as projection, transference, countertransference etc. The last part of the book is solutions to becoming conscious, and stop being a computer programmed robot, running on autopilot without control of the brain. I loved this book, I read it a few years ago, and found it really interesting.

A path with heart, is by an ex buddhist monk (still buddhist pretty much, but not a monk), and psychologist. Its like the next step on from the Tart's book imo. It goes into even more detail about things, but from a much more personal perspective. Tarts book whilst being very useful and interesting, is more from the head, whereas this book is more from the heart, it feels more human and more relevant (not that Tarts book isnt...but its really difficult to explain. You will ntoice the difference anyway) and as well as going into more detail, he offers more step-by step solutions and explanations that build on each other.

I really enjoyed them anyway, I think theyre great tools for getting control of that monkey mind, and becoming more conscious. If you have done Vipassana workshops you will particularly enjoy them both, imo.

Take care

Hey Lee.

:o) youre welcome.

Is that thinking too much, or automatic thinking too much? Your cognitive brain is only there to analyse, and to find solutions to give you more flexibility and efficiency. Its there to give you the 'how to'....If your thoughts arent doing that for you, they arent much use to you. lol. Do you practise anything like qigong, tai chi, yoga or meditation?

If you want some books on getting to grips with your slippery thoughts, consider reading "Waking up: overcoming the obstacles to human potential" by charles t tart. And "A path with heart" by Jack kornfield (beyond the korny name and title of the book, the contents actually awesome. lol.)

Take care

Hey Lee,

:o) You're welcome.

The mind is interesting I agree. My advice would be to start including the advice I give you AND do whatever else you want to do. It starts the brain off to realising that it doesnt have to be a struggle, it can just learn to prefer one choice over another.

So what I often suggest is to take it in stages:

1) Eat the raw foods first, then whatever you want to have...this way you dont have much room left for anything else. anyway, so any food you do have, it wont be quite as much.

2) When you're comfortable with this, start managing what you eat when its cooked a little more. So if you eat meat, choose the veggie option. If you're veggie, choose the vegan option. Start cooking for yourself rather than having the junk food version. Then start cutting out wheat, then the other gluten grains like spelt, rye, oats, barley etc. Then cut out acidic non-gluten grains, like rice and corn, so you're pretty much left with potatoes, pulses and millet, for starchy foods. Then Cut out soya. Then start cutting out the spices, sauces and any other form of condiment, so you learn to appreciate the blandness of cooked foods. Then lose the millet. Then the other pulses.

Just keep moving in the direction of the diet you want to eat. Dont worry so much about speed. You'll get there when you're ready. The good thing about taking this approach is that you can improve your nutritional status with the raw foods, so you know that when you do eat cooked food, over time it becomes less and less about its nutritional properties. The cleaner your diet gets, the less you will want the crap food. The important thnig is to change your relationship with food at a comfortable pace.

At some point during your transitionary phasing out of problem foods, you can start to make an agreement with yourself that you will only eat raw food in the day, then eat whatever cooked food in the evening. Then you can start leaving it to one or two days a week, then fortnightly, then monthly, then you can make the arrangement that its just a social thing.

The other thing I would suggest is chewing thoroughly. If you chew your cooked food repeatedly and really notice the flavours, you might find that you actually dont like the food as much when you can taste the real flavours.

I promise you that eventually you will get to the point where you just dont want shit food anymore. You'll realise that it always tasted and made you feel crap.

Allow yourself time with each stage to get used to, and enjoy, and eventually prefer the new choice you have made.

Of course you can skip some of the things I suggested if you feel ready to move on even further, This is the most thorough transitionary process.

Hope this helps,

Take care

Hey Lee,

My apologies, I just have to make a correction to something I recommended previously. Whilst my recommendation of 60g/day of hemp was accurate, my equation of that being 8tbsp was inaccurate. I just realised that the scoop Ive been using at home is only a 7.5ml scoop which is half the size of a real tbsp, so its only 4 proper tbsp=60g.

Hope you're doing well.

Take care
