Are raw recommendations natural?
i'm new to raw and its ideas, but it strikes me as odd that a lot of what is recommended to eat is not stuff you'd come across easily or be able to produce in a natural setting, ie, blending, juicing, adding strange superfoods in powder form - this would be impossible if we lived away from electrickery etc. i know it is about trying to compensate for the poor quality, denatured food supply we have but all the same it seems as far removed from nature as cooking. Sorry to be controversial but i'm trying to get my head around it all. Anyone any opinions on this?

I think it's great to use the electronics that we've got, but you can definitely do raw without them. I don't use superfoods or a vitamix. I have a juicer simply because its a luxury and I like to get my greens in! For the most part, I eat simply, whole fruits or veggies in various combinations. There are som really great recipes that require electronic supplies that make eating raw easier and more fun, though!

Electricity has made the replacement of the mortar and pestle easier. I would guess that even the cavemen used something like a mortar and pestle to allow for easier digestion.

Wikipedia definition:

A mortar and pestle is a tool used to crush, grind, and mix substances. The pestle is a heavy stick whose end is used for pounding and grinding, and the mortar is a bowl. The substance is ground between the pestle and the mortar.

I felt pretty caveman-like. I used to sit out in my backyard on the ground under huge tropical foliage taking a small flat piece of metal called a hand held grater, grating heads of cabbage into a short tub and then pounding it with an untreated two by four to make my vege kraut. Electrickery is not used by some. No one means to insult anything or anybody. We just do the best we can at any given time. Best of health to you on your journey.

You don't need a blender or juicer or anything like that. You don't need superfoods either. But if you want some variety in your diet, it helps to have such things.

The devices allow us to compensate for living in today's modern society. How easy is it to whip up a smoothie? Juices are always a great pick-me-up. But are they absolutely necessary? No. Just keep on with a steady diet of fruits and vegetables and sprouts and you'll be far better off than billions of other people on the planet.

Alot of the recipes etc you see are used by rawies to transtition with. We've all got to find a way to go from burger and fries to raw food, the complex recipes are a bridge.
Many long term raw fooders eat mono meals, i.e. one type of fruit or veg at a time, untampered with.
Not everyone does this but is is common for this ever simplifying to happen as you proceed on your raw journey.
