Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

Hello ! If someone was starting out raw, what advice and tips would you give them ? I've noticed that there isn't really a "idiot's guide" thread around here, and the newbies seem to have to dig around a lot for knowledge. I'm one of them, and I do miss a place where I can read about the basics. And I know that it will be a bit of time before I can listen to my body.
So... I wait for a bit of guidance from each of you. On what to eat, when, common problems, symptoms of transitioning that are ok and those taht signal a disbalance somewhere, and whatever else you feel is important to know...
And I want the link to that cravings & explanations chart that I've heard legends of !!!

Well, my grandmother was a type 1 diabetic since childhood and had to teach herself craving sweet means lack of protein. My grandma did pretty well with it, she didn't get an education, was a SAHM gave my gran-pa two hands-full of kids, birthed them all at home and raised them all healthy to adulthood, and she had a normal length life too. My Mom followed suit like the Paavo Airola books on hypoglycemia, eat sprouted almonds when craving sweet, etc, always a beautiful figure and lots of energy.

Craving salt? Need minerals. Try greens, seaweed or wheat-grass juice, you won't even be able to eat salt when you have your fill of those.

Aajonus had a client, very overweight, was craving ice cream like crazy. He gave her his raw (real) ice cream recipe and told her to eat as much of it as she wanted. She did, she lost all the weight she needed to, and her health cleared up.

There are so many styles of raw food, only you have the most direct connection to figure out which path you might follow, till you figure out your own. Maybe buy or take out a few books from the library, or follow your instincts to start, see what foods smell good to you. It will evolve over time too, as to what you're changing in your body.

I know it's hard, as the rest of the world has some odd support system in cooked, but we're here. When you have a specific thing you run into, ask us.

Keep a plentiful supply of raw foods! I stocked up on a wide variety of things, particularly sprouts (mung bean, aduki beans, sunflower, radish) as well as green leaves. I was often able to buy them pre-washed, so when I got the munchies it was simple to throw together a salad in a few minutes by grabbing a few handfuls.
