I've recently found the blessing of a raw lifestyle, but I've been having some coinciding sleep issues. I've found that my body doesn't seem to want to sleep as much as it used to...I'll stay up much later and wake up much earlier. I love that I am less dependent on sleep, but the problem is that I'm still sleepy! I just can't actually fall and stay asleep. My mind is tired, but my body won't go to sleep! Is this normal? Cheers!
I found when I knocked my nut intake right back, that during-the-day sleepiness disappeared, and I was just stupid bouncy instead. In fact, I just discovered that this week, so great timing with the question!
I'm sure someone out here can explain it all in greater depth though...

Hey Shaheen,
This is quite a common problem when going raw. Its often caused either by under-eating on calories (which increases production of adrenaline and cortisol, two stress hormones, which further lower your blood sugar levels. Its your bodys way of compensating, and encouraging you to eat more. Or eating stimulating foods. Or eating too late. Or stress. How much are you eating in a day...ie. what foods specifically and how much? Are you taking any supplements or superfoods or medications? What time do you finish eating in the evening? What time are you typically going to bed?
What about exercise? Do you do any? If so, what kinds and at what time?
How do you typically handle stress? Are you experiencing additional stress in your life atm? Are you finding being raw stressful at all? Is it stirring up any old or repressed emotions or issues?
Have you noticed any unpleasant dreams recently? Are you aware of dreaming more, less or the same since going raw?
hello shaheen how are you.I find it best if you go for a swim before you go to sleep.Or do some meditation .Have some camomile tea with honey. My brother told me of a meditation which is great for relaxing the body.Light a candle in your room make sure your room is clean and there is space in it.First close your eyes and start doing some streching your arms legs etc you can do any kind of streching you like makeing sure you keep your eyes closed. You can do it for 10 minutes or half an hour.Give it a try you never know. Spirulina is good to keep you grounded, and give you a calm energy i just found that out you will have to find more info on spirulina.
