I need your advice desperately. My second son is only six months and my milk is drying up. My first son was breastfed till he was 18 months. I'm concerned. What can I do to increase milk production. Every mother I've met who has had this problem told me to drink a bottle of beer and the milk will flow....um....no!

Hey,
What are you eating, specifically in an average day? Include how what fluids you drink and how much of them, as well as any supplements, 'superfoods' and medication you are on.
I've been eating mainly fruits and vegetables. I've eased a lot on the nuts. Superfoods? Like cacao, goji berries? I'm not eating that. I'm not on medication or supplements. I drink about 1 1/2 litres a day. What do you suggest?
Yes, I was thinking at least three quarts non-nursing. There needs to be fluid for there to be milk, probably 3xfluid:milk.
Raw Caribeña, are you guys doing better now? If you can't bring yourself to drinking that much, maybe you need to get more minerals and sugars to make you thirsty.
Rejuvelac works better than beer. Also there are some herbs, you should look them up, I think fenugreek. It's hot, Summer, you may need more fluids than before too, especially as he must be getting bigger and growing and his needs increasing.
you don't like beer, i take it! actually, it does cause a good let down. i actually got that advice from LL Leader here in town and it worked well. just because it relaxes you. obviously don't drink more than one.
spend the entire day in bed with baby allowing free access to nursing. is he nursing at night? if not, you may want to set an alarm and wake him for feeding. not the most fun, but it will help. that is what i had to do with my daughter for a little while.
I started to drink tea with Blessed Thistle and that has helped. I increased my water intake and I've found that when I nurse him in bed (we both are lying down), he stays on the breast longer.
I a few months ago I had an extremely stressful family situation and found my milk supply starting to diminish so I drank pots full of fennel tea every day (fennel seeds in an infuser pot) and meditated, this worked for me. I have also heard fenugreek helps.
Hope this helps
Hi lovely mothers! drinks lots of wather, eat lots of food and let the baby suck. You kan also "suck-by hand -be yourself" I still brestfeeding my daughter, 2 years old.(we are both 100% raw and I only breastfeed here antill she was more then one year) And also take it easy and do thinks in your life you like, I had periods then the milk was more less so no stress/lots of love Katrin
