Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

I recently purchased some Cacao Nibs. I tried to eat them alone but... they were not great. It sort of reminded me of chewing on those grated up tire pieces used on playgrounds.

So, I was wondering what all of you brilliant minds do when you have extra nibs on hand.

You could make a smoothie! Put a handful of nibs in the blender with a banana, some water, agave nectar and almond butter...blend....it's really filling, and can be split between to people.

That sounds great. I'm sure the almond butter makes the smoothie pretty thick. I really love eating smoothies in a bowl with a spoon.

They are good alone. They are great stuffed in a date. Mash them into a powder and mix with avocado, agave then throw some raspberries in. mmm...
In my blog, I have pictures and step by step instructions on making cashew chocolate milk.
Lately, I've been soaking cacao with gojiberries and adding them to my green smoothies. Spirulina, Kale, Spinach, Ginger, Cayenne, Cinnamon, Kiwi, Apple, Celery, Peach. It's my favorite meal. :-)

avocado, agave and raspberries sounds amazing.
I will for sure try that one today.

Does soaking the cacao nibs help them grind up easier?

yeah thats what i want to know. my family didn't appreciate the 'rocks' in the choco pudding i made.

I agree, i couldn't really eat them alone when i had them.

I started to throw them into my green smoothie -- for something to chew on (since i was drinking my smoothie too fast and not CHEWING, the cacao nibs were a great boost of crazy energy and they forced me to chew my smoothie!)

also

you can grind them up into more of a powder and throw them into a blender with a couple REALLY ripe bananas and some medjool dates... with some water or "nut mylk" if you desire.

I put in my green smoothie "cereal" to add some crunchiness. I'll throw in whatever fruit I have in the house in a bowl (ie. nectarines, berries, or kiwi), with goji berries for chewiness, and the cocoa nibs to make it crunchy then pour the green smoothie on top.The cocoa nibs taste fantastic this way.
