My lower left eyelid has been twitching, it just started today and has been happening all day. I am not sleep deprived, I have been sleeping the same amount all summer long, and it has been definitely sufficient.
And I'm not very stressed at all.
I don't know what's going on. Maybe it will be gone tomorrow?
Idk, could it be a detox symptom? I don't understand what's going on.
Lol, I'm not sure if you're asking me or RawClimber. But if it's me, then go ahead! Ask away, lol you don't even have to ask, I'm always honest too. :)
I am about 95-100% raw on any given day. I do not have alcohol or coffee or sugar or anything of that nature.
Maybe exposure to a chemical? My eye used to twitch sometimes when I ate cooked food - I thought it was from caffeine but who knows... My dad used to drink Diet Pepsi a lot and twitch from the nerve poison aspartame.
Just a couple ideas... might already be gone...
Peace
I agree. Muscle twitches and cramps usually mean you need more magnesium. Put a bunch of spinach in your smoothie- it's got one of the highest magnesium contents. Leafy greens in general have a lot of magnesium. Hemp seeds, tomatoes, avocados and corn are also very high in mag.
I tend to agree with Adam. I wasn't doing enough green juices or raw milk for a while. My legs muscles started twitching. I told a bodybuilder friend of mine. He suggested electrolytes, lack of enough exercise or magnesium. I did more green juices and raw milk again, and the twitching went away, not to come back. The twitching was a year and a half ago. It lasted a couple of weeks in all.
Greenswise for magnesium I prefer collards and or kale to spinach.
The magnesium issue might be it, I don't experience any soreness in my muscles however, and I would out for two hours every day. I always include a lot of spinach in my green smoothies, but I'm sure I could find more ways to incorporate greens into my diet! As for the banana suggestion, thank you :) I just tend to stay away from High Glycemic fruits, so I don't ever eat those. Thank you all!
You dont necessarily have to have the muscle cramping to be Mg deficient. Bananas are not high Glycaemic index or load. Glycemic load is more important than Glycemic index. Index tells you how quickly sugar enters the blood stream, but not how quickly it turns into blood sugar. Glycemic load tells you how much glucose is likely to be in a portion, which makes it more relevant. Bananas arent even problematic for diabetics, so unless you have high blood lipid levels, this isnt an issue to be concerned about.
The glycemic load is based upon the carbohydrate content. I would believe the GI is more important, considering I am not watching carbs, however anything that is medium to high on the GI, causes inflammation on a cellular level... the number one factor to aging. Which is the reason I steer clear of high glycemic foods.
Everyone is different, some people might experience banana's as low to mid-glycemic, however in my body it appears they convert rapidly. That's just how it is for me. :)
I have an old neck injury that I acquired in my late teens. I used to carry much of my stress, and still sometimes do, in my shoulders and neck. I used to get eye twitches all the time that I thought were related to the neck problem. But as Debbie stated, that is one of those things that has seemed to have gone away since I became raw, amazing...
Also, the muscle cramps...I used to get such bad calf muscle and foot arch cramps that they were painful..I haven't had any of those in a long time. Must be all this good ole raw food.
so, some of you are thinking magnesium, huh? Interesting, I'll have to do some research on that.
When I worked in supplement retail and I had a customer with leg cramps, magnesium (esp. in ionic form) always worked for them. Magnesium is the mineral that controls muscle relaxation and calcium controls muscle contraction.
