Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

i'd just like to get some ideas on what could be causing them. don't expect anyone to have the answers and i'm definitely going with the flow of the changes my body is making. but it'd help to get some direction here.

okay, the two things i've been noticing that i'm struggling with is...

1. i simply cannot hop out of bed in the morning. i've been making a conscious effort to get up earlier each morning. i've recently realized the magic of the early morning hours and want to be up and alive and feeling great along with the world around me. but the second my alarm goes off, i hit it with one eye open and start screaming at myself in my head to get uppppppp. the fact that i know i CAN sleep a little later, keeps me in bed. i have no problem getting right out of bed if i know i have to be up and have to be somewhere. but theres that little voice inside my head saying "just another 1/2 hour...you'll thank yourself for sleeping more!"...and i give in, 30min later alarm goes off again (which always feels like a whopping 5 minutes later) and i feel exactly the same as i did 30 min ago haha. why is my body struggling so much in the morning? i feel great at night, fall asleep within minutes and have a nice and sound sleep. but the morning hits and i'm like a fat ass stubborn bull dog, refusing to move. am i eating too late? do you wake up more refreshed when you stop eating so late? i also noticed that i eat my most nutritious foods in the morning and early afternoon...evening comes and i tend to have some cooked vegan dinners.

2. my teeth! i know i need to get to a dentist, but i'm trying to avoid it at all costs. i do not have dental insurance and do not have sufficient funds to pay out of my pocket. what foods would be the most mineral dense and good for my teeth?? can you reverse cavities? can you avoid the dentist forEVER? haha

thanks friends :)

p.s. anyone attend or know of someone who's attended or heard of the Academy of Healing Nutrition in NYC? I'm looking into it and going to an orientation for it soon. It's striking my interest :)

I just got 811 b/c so many people talk about it here. I must admit that half way through it makes a lot of sense. So like DR says, you could read it and take action...
The tiredness, its the cooked dinners. Switch to a green smoothie (or other blended meal) for dinner and feel the difference. When I ate my last few cooked dinners, I would wake up with a sore feeling through my whole body, especially in my legs. It was awful waking up feeling like its time to go to bed..... When I eat raw dessert type stuff late at night (nuts, dates etc) I feel heavy in the morning too, but not like from the cooked crap.
Your body does its healing while you rest, so it makes sense to not make it digest a big gross pile of nutrient-less crap all night. If you don't overburden the digestive system, the body will heal and get ready for the next day much more efficiently.

The dentist thing, just never take or use fluoride, no matter what they say.

Peace

I am like you about the getting up early thing. I have three suggestions: 1) adjust to early rising by slowly getting up 10 minutes earlier each day, 2) keep the same schedule EVERY day and 3) plan something fun for the early morning. If you slowly adjust, you don't have that much time to sleep in, so there is little to gain by ignoring your alarm clock. As you realize how much you like waking up early, it will become less of a chore. (I also suggest the same thing for getting used to going to bed early, to compensate.) Doing it every day is key - the one day you go to bed late or sleep in, your whole schedule gets messed up and its a pain to get back on track. And if you plan something fun for early in the morning, something you really enjoy, you'll be excited to get up - just like you do when you "have" to be somewhere. I know it isn't raw, but sometimes I go to a coffee shop early and study for school - it really works for me, because I love getting out of the house early when everything is quiet (plus it gets me studying - double-whammy!). :-)

i love the idea of planning something "fun" in the morning! now what could be so fun to get me out of my morning coma, i don't know. there seems to be no rationalizing within my sleepy mind. once i'm up for five and moving, i'm fine. but it's the actually rolling out of the bed and opening my eyes and standing up that is so ridiculously difficult for me.

I'd pretty much echo what's been said, and suspect that your cooked vegan dinners could well be the culprit. If they're heavy meals or you're eating them too late then they could well be contributing to your lack of early morning get-up-and-go, and of course the time you go to bed can make a difference.

I used to have the same problem but now my eating habits have changed I find I can wake up at 5:30 and feel like getting up straight away. I tend to hit the sack between 10pm and 11pm every day - not because I'm tired but because it leads to the best quality sleep.

I tend to graze throughout the day, even when I'm at work. I start with a green juice and berries for breakfast, then have a couple of pieces of fruit through the morning at my desk. I have a large salad at lunchtime, and munch on a banana, an apple and some seeds and nuts during the afternoon. In the evening I'll have something light, usually - but not always - raw, and never after 8pm. Loads of water throughout the day too.

It works for me - it may do for you!

As for teeth, I don't now about cavity reversal, but I went to the dentist recently for the first time in 10 years!. I was dreading it, but pleasantly surprised to find out that aside from some plaque build-up I got a clean bill of health. The dentist has tried pestering me to let her take some x-rays but I've told her politely that I'm not interested...

Good luck with the waking - hope you get it sorted soon!

i too have the same problem. it could be what you're eating, when you're eating it, and what's in it. it could also be that you're not getting restorative sleep. i think that's what's wrong with me... i could "sleep" a good 8-9 hours, but since i'm not getting restorative sleep it feels like i haven't slept at all. you could try listening to a relaxing hypnosis cd, which i hear helps put you into a deep sleep.

as far as teeth go, i've avoided the dentist for a whopping ten years, and have now found myself with a mouthful of cavities, and one tooth that's on its way out. i know it doesn't seem possible getting good dental care without having insurance, but i'd look into a free or sliding scale fee dental clinic in your area. they're hard to get into, but as the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention...

good luck!

Drink lots of green juices. They'll help you get up in the morning, and help your teeth. Write me if you want to ask me more about having green juice ready for yourself in the morning. Try to get enough exercise before evening. Get to bed way before 10PM, can you do that? Rub your feet with cold pressed sesame oil. Key to a good morning is a restful night's sleep. If all else fails, you might need to go to a medical specialist for a sleep study. You might unknowingly be slighlty waking up hundreds of times per night, or any of a thousand other problems, even if you have no obstructions. Like I said, feel free to write me.

i think eating cooked foods late at night might be the culprit. I don't eat past 7 pm and i had always had trouble waking in the morning. Now at 7 am I am ready to go!! Eat light at night. Hey, that rhymes. :)
