Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

Fats and Oil, is one better? Is there purpose for them in adults?

My hands used to hurt too much when I'd try to handle cold things. My main fats were EVOO and wild raw coconut. I was 99.9% vegan most of that time.

When I was younger, and totally whole (vegan) food (not all raw) my periods stopped for months. When I added wheatgerm oil to my diet it came back and was fine again.

My hands and everything have been great on a high animal fat diet. I've been avoiding butter (unpasteurized pastured) this week. Now this morning when I was cutting up refrigerated meat for my cat, my hands really hurt from the cold, that hadn't happened in a long time.

You know I'll be eating lots of butter today.

Who has any fat or oil stories? Pro or con.

I enjoy being with my husband, so many times more, when I eat raw fat (the higher ratio of it I eat the better in this). I love being touched more, etc. Otherwise I'd have to get by pretty much on non-touch reiki. I feel a lot no matter what, but enjoying everything I feel is important there. I've also done years of celibate, as I didn't want anything (and was very thin with single digit body fat and unprotected tendons most of my life). Good point BBb.

I definitely need some fat. I think I was a bit addicted to nuts and I stopped eating them, but I didn't substitute the fat which is what I was craving. So now I make sure I have a little coconut and hemp oil. Now I don't feel down in the dumps-- and have more of a libido.

I'm so happy for you. You're such a nice person. I'm glad you're feeling better, hemp is a wonderfood (it's kind of a wonder it's not more prevalent). A loving husband would appeciate that, as I'm sure yours must.

Thanks, Rawzi. Oh yes. My poor husband has had to put up with a lot the past few weeks. That thyroid medicine made me very moody. I am a bit achy in my lower back, but I was told that pain in the lower back could mean detox--- not yet sure. I bought some ncd too. My energy is back and I needed that. I am still discovering what works for me, lol.

You're welcome, Toni. Until I discovered the food I'm doing now, some intentional yoga and yoga-like exercises helped my lower back not to hurt. Lower back pain can affect almost anything below the belt. Are you practicing yoga? Dancing, also can be good.

Not as regularly as I would like. I wish I could find a bikram yoga class here in the morning. I feel better when I sweat alot. That is why I have been walking/running in the morning. Exercising every morning helps, but I do need to go back to the practice.
Yeah, I did the yoga every morning, or else! My diet and air weren't toxic at all when I hurt everyday. I was living in a hot climate, had never in my life had air conditioning neither then. I think in my case it was mostly a little sulphur deficiency (cabbage wasn't enough needed egg yolk and didn't know till now) combined with older overstress that lead to injury. I'm good now though.

I like running in the early morning, but not too sweaty.

Do you have a shower filter? Maybe fill a tub with hot water and do yoga in the bathroom (if it's big enough). Have a hot pot of boiled water hanging out in the sink while you're at it, no airconditioning in the house, bathroom doors and window closed, do this on a carpet of course. I would say use an electric heater, but I don't like their vibes, personally, I don't like any kind of artificial heat.

Can you even get raw butter where you live?

Do durians have some kind of sulphur containing aminos along with their Omega 6's???
Well, actually I am saying that eating fresh raw foods will give you fats that are essential, and eating things like avocado. Zinc was mentioned above for some animal balls or something, and B12 was something I might have added about sprouts containing B12. Iron is something I started to mention about menstruation and meat. Meat is high in iron which seems to have something to do with mentruation, but also things like beets and beet greens are high in iron, and dark greens. Basically, I was also saying that people do not need to hemorrhage during menstruation and can still be fertile with a light period or none at all, that we do need real nutrient packed fats, and we do get them from foods whether we think we should avoid all fat or not. We can get the right kind of fats, without eating lard, or trans fats, or cooking oil which are devoid of nutrients. Cold pressed omega oils or avocado, spouted nuts and seeds I think are all great sources of essential fat nutrients, even raw butter or raw goats milk, are sources of nutritional fats as opposed to cooking oil. As far as raw or cooked meat, I do think it is a matter of choice to eat it and not necessary, as well as it being costly to humans. An example is the feed for cattle that could feed the world over several times, and causes flatulence in cattle because the cattle are not feed normal cow diets, the flatulence supposedly is more pollutaneous, then all the cars. So I especially think eating cows are an unneeded luxury that people should consider as a form of unnecessary greed, not to mention growth hormones causing animal deformities, and the whole ethical slaughtering issues.

ok, I didn't read this whole thread as it was long and tedious. One thing I have been told, by an iridologist, that I find rings true for me is that omega fatty acids help to balance your hormone production. So, I generally have a slight hormonal imbalance, VERY VERY painful menstrual cramping, and skin erruptions around my mouth/chin, just prior to menstruation. If I make sure to keep up my intake of omega 6 fatty acids it helps A LOT with my hormonal fluctuations and I have less pain with menstruation and less skin problems.
So take that for what it's worth. I find fat is necessary for me, at this point in my life... can't say where my diet will evolve but for now this is what works

I love using oils as a part of my daily regime-

coconut oil on my skin
sesame oil in my hair
olive oil on my bike chain

lol, thanks. I use coconut oil on my Champion.

Sesame oil is great for feet, sleep and for oil-pulling I think, but usually not at the same time.
