This is my second experience trying to go 100% percent raw from a cooked vegan diet. It seems as though I am extremely thirsty all of a sudden! This is day two high raw for me. I thought that consuming more high water content living foods would lessen my body's need for water but it really feels like I need to drink more water now. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be my body trying to clean house?
Could be your body trying to do that. Or weakened kidneys. Or.. your spine is more aligned so you're needing fluids for the csf (which would be great, lessening pain etc). Do you feel OK?
Yeah, I feel great otherwise. Maybe a little bit sleepy...It seems like the more water I drink, the more water I need! I did just quit smoking and I was eating a lot of processed junk. At this point, I am trying to get as much raw in as possible while decreasing my intake of cooked food. Today I did not have anything processed at all.
water is used by the body to dilute toxins....as you are starting to eat more healthfully your body is releasing fat-stored toxins back into the body and is calling for more water to dilute and ensure effective transit from the body...
heed the call for water, try to avoid salt for a while (forever if you can :o) ) as this will further dehydrate you....also try to avoid too many dehydrated foods , nuts , dried fruit till things start to normalise.....rehydration can take a while.....remember, you have probably spent a long time dehydrated...you are just starting to really experience what that feels like
I agree with el-bo. The body is probably dumping the toxins from your cells and needs the fluids for dilution. It is your body's way of protecting itself from toxemia.
Drink plenty of water and water rich foods such as cucumbers and other fruits. Green juicing is also great to replace any minerals your body has been depleted of for so long.
Being an ex-smoker myself, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! That is a difficult habit to break. If you can break that habit, processed food is a piece of cake (raw that is :)
Get as much rest as you can and drink plenty of fluids, especially juices, if you can. Also, be prepared for any headaches, rashes, or other detox symptoms you may have. These are symptoms of your body releasing toxins, which is a good thing.

Try adding a pinch of Celtic Salt or Real Salt to your water. Some people don't regulate sodium vs potassium well, esp. if they have any adrenal fatigue and the salt helps them to stay hydrated. This has made a big difference for me. Many folks need to avoid salt, but some of us can actually have a potassium excess and a sodium deficiency, because the hormone that regulates these is too low.
Also, I just read that if you're doing raw using non-organic produce, the excessive phosphates found in these can cause artificial dehydration. Are you using non-organic?

natural sodium is one thing, sodium chloride (salt) is another thing entirely....though the use of salt may achieve what you are talking about it comes at a premium, salt being extremely toxic

this is a perfect solution to the bodys need for natural sodium (tomatoes also)....it does exactly what you are asking of salt but without the nasty side-effects
