Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

Since these foods are in the house, I am tempted and do eat them sometimes... I live with my husband and his brother. My hubby and I were doing okay until his brother moved in... food wise. Now that his brother is here, there is soda - which I don't touch, candy, chips, cheese.... the normal stuff you would eat on the SAD diet.

Well, I just indulged in a few reeces peanut butter cups - I had tried to avoid them... but I love chocolate and even though I have raw chocolate in the house, I had a few anyways.

I know that eating raw is the best way of life for me - but sometimes I find it hard to stick with because I have all of these other foods in my refrigerator, cupboards, and countertops... and at times, I give in and have them... I was just hoping someone had a little advice for me - a tactic to help me not indulge... something to help me stay on track and to find my discipline once again.

Anyone, any help would be appreciated!! Thank you~!

How did they taste? Did you taste all the extra sugar and processed crud? How did you feel afterwards? I partake in cooked food now and again, but I always make note of how I feel - and usually, it's piss poor in comparison to when I am 100% raw.

My family is not raw, and I do not force my lifestyle on them. I help them make healthier choices, but pretty much every dinner they have is cooked vegan/vegetarian. I have always placed a huge importance on family interaction at dinner, so I sit with them with my smoothie in hand. About half the time, I have a small bowl of whatever they are having. I used to get really beat up over it, but I find comfort in the fact that my choices now are so far improved than those of the past. I am proud of the changes that I made, and continue to make - I find that the portions I take of cooked food are smaller and smaller and smaller.

Also, I have a super obsessive personality. If I deny myself something over and over again, it permeates my every thought until I overindulge. I read on someone else's page that if they think about a food for more than 4 hours, they eat it. I've sort of included that in my personal life, and I have found that it makes my cravings less and less because they are not as taboo.

Thanks for responding! Yes, the next day I didn't feel so well - Kind of had a food hang over - stuffy nose and lethargic. I do feel much better and completely different when I am 100% raw, however, I am beginning to realize that I can not do it all at once and I need to stop being so hard on myself when I am not. It's just that I did have it all once - I was raw for about 2 years - pretty close to 100% and then I lost it all.... so I know what I am missing! I just lost my discipline somewhere ~ but.....

Lately, I have been eating raw up until dinner time and once dinner comes around, I have a low fat vegetarian or vegan meal. I am going to continue this until I feel ready to move on and to become even more raw - if that's what I choose to do.

I also promise myself now that if I decide to have something other than a raw meal for breakfast or lunch, I will not beat myself up about it.

Now I just hope I can stick with it! Ha, no that's not the right attitude is it? I will stick with it - I just have to keep reminding myself that i'm human and every now and then I will make a mistake.

Awsome post! I can def identify with the Sarah and Rebecca Lynn and am going to note how I feel when I do indulge next time. Really good advice because you are soooooo right, the afterward feeling is never pretty, almost immediately too : /
