Has anyone tried the use of Aloe Vera, whether it be internally or topically? I have read that once you fillet the leaf you must ingest it within 10 minutes of a certain enzyme becomes depleted, which I fully agree with! I tend to do that with all my juices, (maybe not ten minutes, I like to enjoy them, but I don't let myself take TOO long on them!). But has anyone ever experimented with Aloe Vera? Do you recommend it? What have you read about it?

I have 3 swords in my fridge. I use them all the time. I add them to juices, use them on my face as a moisturizer and on my skin when i get too much sun. It doesn't taste so good so I chug it opposed to savoring it like juice. I blend it up in the vitamix with lemon and down it goes. It's anti inflammatory and very lubricating. You can get a box of them from aloeking with free shipping for cheap and they last a month or more in the fridge.

Put it in your smoothies. Its a pain in the ass to prep for some but gets really simple after a few tries. I eat aloe sometimes now but in the past I used to eat it daily and it gives your skin a glow and adds a natural sunscreen to your skin. This is a major healer from inside out. Anyone with skin issues should eat aloe everyday. You can grow your own easily anywhere. I also take a bucket full sometimes and peel them and and process them and put in a jar and leave in my fridge for topical applications to any cuts, burns, or potential sunburns after surfing for too many hours straight. Aloe is awesome - go nuts and eat it - it will show you what it will do.
If your aloe smells a little, just rinse the slimy meat piece really good and the sap will wash off. I don't eat the sap, only the meat. The sap is what smells weird.

Does it bother you? I can't smell anything.

I've used it in smoothies (no taste) as well as topically. I was kind of suprised the first time I applied it actually. I'm used to sleeping covered in coconut oil and waking up with it absorbed. I thought the same thing when I used aloe but then I got in the shower and got slimy again!

Most of the aloe I eat does not smell, however, as a seeker of the natural way, I try to scavenge locally for my aloe as opposed to buying 3 arms for $8. So some smells like poo when you open it up. I think direct sunlight causes smelly aloe among other things. I read about it but forget.

I never minded the smell of aloe. It smelled like vegetables to me. But then mine was homegrown. Maybe they do something to it that makes it smell bad?

How effective would the aloe juice be (in a smoothie)? I have a jug of it that I use after I have been in the sun to soothe my skin. I have trouble finding the plants-they are usually small and puny.

You can have them shipped to you form aloeking.com they are reasonably priced and I think if you get 15 it includes shipping.

the plants usually are small and puny! i have some that i have had for 7 years, and they still aren't as large as i would like.

i'm strange though...i could never eat my plants. they're my babies. i buy separate aloe for eating.

yes yes yes
all I can say is YES
AND make sure you love it when you drink those magic brews.

Another hint is to NOT blend it too much - add the Aloe Vera in at the end and blend just enough t mix in - do not over blend as that will make the AV less healing.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Aloe Vera and if you relate each day - MAGICK will happen.

also...juice from the whole leaf (as opposed to just the inner fillet) is highly laxative, so if you don't need that effect, stick with just the inner fillet

I heard the skin is toxic and acts as a natural insect repellent which is why aloe doesn't need insecticides to grow.
