Hi I'm new to the raw life, but I've been crafty all my life, so I have a crafty question. Aside from sticking them in a jar and sprouting them, has anyone thought of a crafty idea for all of these avocado pits we're generating?
They're so big and beautiful, I feel bad tossing them, but I have a black thumb and would never be able to grow a plant let alone a bunch of plants.
i have no idea because i've never tried it, but wouldn't it be cool if you could dry it out, paint on it, drill a hole and make this enormous pendant from it. it would definitely be a conversation piece. i've seen this done with smaller dried seeds and beans, i don't imagine avocado pits being much differant, just bigger.
I like that idea. Pendant or holiday ornament. it has potential. I'm also trying to think of something to do w/ all this colorful pulp coming from my juicer. I'm thinking that if I mix it w/ some homemade glue, it would make some lovely organic paint that the kids and I could maybe use to decorate the dried avocado pits. Hmmmm.
I use my avocado pits to paint faces for miniature dolls. It is very fun. I just scrub off the pit under water and let it dry. Then I paint it with acrylic paints and sharpie pen. You could seal it with gloss medium.
