Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

Eating raw fresh fruits and veggies, is so pure, is so tasteful, and so magical. Could you imagine a life without being able to eat your food raw? This is how I feel about nudity. It is the closest thing I can use to describe how it feels to be so raw, so free. It is pure delight. How do you feel about nudity?

i don't mind it. i wish more people were comfortable with themselves. most of the time i'm just too darn cold to be naked, but a skinny dip on a summer's night is incredibly refreshing.

I'm posting naked right now. :)

Note: I told my wife that I was posting about being naked and she immediately went upstairs to find me some clothes :(

I'll be the odd one out. :-) I have no problem with the concept of nudity, nor do I have a problem with other people being nude (under the appropriate circumstances, of course), but sadly I am not yet comfortable enough with my body to be nude that often. I'm naked about 30 minutes MAX a day, for showering and getting dressed. How do people overcome their body issues and become more open in that way? Have you always felt that way? Because I kind of think that hiding my body with clothes is almost my way of hiding my real personality, which I totally do. Hmmm...something to think about...Interesting post! :-)

hi rachel!
perhaps a gentle way to start would be to try sleeping naked--safely, warmly, cozily, beneath a nice soft organic blanket or two, mmmmm. many fears/issues/challenges/whatever-you-call-them have their roots in our subconscious, so why not start to unravel them right at the subconscious source? as a bonus, since you'll be asleep, you probably won't feel anxiety. (though it might be a good idea to set the intention before you go to sleep that you will have only beautiful happy healing dreams, no naked nightmares!)
if sleeping naked feels too strange at this point though, a very pleasant route to an ever-more-positive body image is to treat yourself to a massage every week--keep trying different therapists until you find one who really senses and connects with your body. spas aren't usually the best places--they hire people right out of massage school (i know because i was full-time therapist for 8 years) and rush from client to client. if you have any friends who have a therapist they like, i'd start off with a referral from them. most therapists are pretty conservative especially the first time they see a client--you'll be totally covered with a sheet except where they're actually massaging you and you can keep your underwear on if it feels better to you that way. lots of people start off keeping their underwear on under the sheet and then as they get more comfortable they'll go fully naked (still under the sheet).

Rachel, here's a lil Osho to help inspire you, as it certainly helped me. In case you're not familiar with his philosophies - he teaches us how to use our mind to heal our body... :) Here's an excerpt from his empowering book entitled "Body Mind Balancing" that I wanted to share with you:

"The body is the visible soul and the soul is the invisible body. The body and soul and not divided anywhere, they are parts of each other, they are parts of one whole. You have to accept the body, you have to love the body, you have to respect the body, you have to be grateful to your body...

The body is the most complex mechanism in existence -- it is simply marvelous!

And blessed are those who marvel.

Begin the feeling of wonder with your own body, because that is the closest to you. The closest nature has approached to you, the closest existence has come to you, is through the body. In your body is the water of oceans, in your body is the fire of the stars and the suns, in your body is the air, your body is made of earth."

--Osho

So in a nutshell, it's about learning and understanding that synergetic connection he describes above and embracing it... in the nude of course. ;)

This weekend was 100 degrees and rediculously dry, My friend and i found this private swimming hole that was shady and coooooooooool
we were there swimming and laying on the rocks naked for 7 hrs that day.............. it was a first for me but felt amazing, i was totally comfortable with it. While we were there a couple with their daughter came to cool off and at first i was unsure whether it was appropraite, but as soon as i just let those insecurities and doubts goooooo i felt free and extremely blissed out.
everyone just seemed so thankful for the moments we shared, might not be for everyone, but felt very natural for me!!

Could you point us to the magazine article?

I don't mean to say you're wrong. You are probably right.

I write this wearing only a shortish tank top and a pair of bikini panties. I guess I'm undersexed, not taking off the last two items.

Wow, I wish I could be as open as you guys. I detest being naked - I would shower clothed if I could. Of course, I am pretty overweight, and have been for most of my life. I'm hoping that being raw (and the weight loss that comes with it) will help me change my body image. My hubby loves being naked - he would walk around all day with it all hanging out if he could. :)

Kendra: Ouch! I hope your desires come true as your weight changes on raw. I was overweight most of my life too and very shy about being unclothed around others. It sure helped me to be around others who found that being without clothes was nothing special, just the basic mode we all were given at birth --- soon to be distorted by societal practices. You've already taken the first steps by sharing your feelings.Just saying it out loud helps break the mindset and being willing to stand in front of a mirror and just be grateful that you have the body you see before you, being grateful that it works and is capable of great change and is self healing at any age.

Here's wishing you the feeling of liberation that comes with breaking old belief systems!
