I would love some input on what you all feel the place of drinking dried raw greens versus fresh squeezed ones is?
I find that due to time constraints it is really easy for me to drink down a glass or two of Vitamineral green, but much harder to find time to juice. I worry though that the VMG probably isn't a substitute for green juice, ....more of a supplement too and that I really need to be doing both if possible.
Well, me being a huge lover of Vitamineral green and not so fond of cleaning my greenstar - I'd have to agree with you as far as the convenience of VMG, plus is does have some stuff that I know I wouldn't be juicing, such as nettle, horsetail and nopal cactus!! I don't use it as a complete substitute - I still juice my greens at least once/week (and with the greenstar it lasts a few days) so I do have my juice a couple of times. And I wouldn't even say VMG is better than nothing because it does have some unique ingredients, its just different - juice is obviously fresh pressed sunshine; hydration, enzymes, etc...
I would definitely do both! At least I like to have a happy balance. I found that VMG works great to put into tasty raw chocolate mixtures! Super Yummy!!! Have fun!
vitamineral green is good, but i've only given it a slight taste in juice. i have found smoothies to be of use, and presently i juice, but not nearly enough. that being said, you might think i should do vmg. i have it handy in the house, but i want juicy raw stuff, real food, etc. somehow i haven't considered powder to be real food in years, unless it's a powdery carob pod just off a tree. actually we just ran out of vmg, i have got to order some more.
The freshness of green produce and the electrolytes, high quality water and life force present in the juice make it better. But Vitamineral Green is fantastic in its own right, just not as great.
Today is my 15th day of juice fasting and I drink just under a gallon a day and it is such a hassle juicing that much with the Greenstar. I've been wondering if I could do the fast with VMG's and water alone. If people do water fasts, why can't I do this? I know it would make things much easier and save me a ton of time. It can take me up to 2 hours to juice a gallon depending what I'm juicing, including cleanup. Talk about boring. It's like watching the worst movie of your life and that's every day. HELP!!!!! :-) I know people who buy 6 16 ounce bottles of juice from Liquiteria each day of their juice fast for 8.50 each. That's a bit too much for me. 357.00 a week. I'd say I spend 15.00 a day on produce at the co-op.
Maybe just juice easy things, like celery, zucchini and cucumber for the first half of the day, then vmg and water for the second half, or mix the two the both times.
Do you juice as you go? Or do it once or twice per day? Or some other way?
That's an idea. The leafies are a hassle. I juice once a day because the gstar keeps it fresh for a few days but I use it all in a day. Goodbye leafies, hello VMG's
Heya Jeff,
I am juice feasting in NYC too. Day 17 today...totally hear ya on the the Liquiteria/Green star madness ;-) Ooooh but the Grasshopper is soooo good! Do you go to the Park Slope Coop? I ordered my VMG from High Vibe but it hasn't come in yet so I am finishing off some Shine and other green grass powder I already had. Are you following juicefeasting.com? Love to meet another feaster in the area!
I find music while juicing makes me happy and sends good energy into the juice! So chant away and the time goes faster!
