Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

Hello!

I have a chronic problem with urinary tract infections, and since going raw in April, I have not had much of an issue until recently - which is too bad because I thought I had my problem nixed.
I have gotten one 3 weeks ago and had to go on antibiotics, and since being raw I was VERY VERY sensitive to them - they pretty much stole any vitality I had gained from being raw and sent me back to how I used to feel (crappy).

And now, just when I'm feeling better (from a cold, and being on probiotics) I get another one! And I have no idea why - possibly from being in a hot tub for too long on the weekend, but I don't know. Usually I only get UTI from sex.

So here is my question. Anyone else have this problem and find a solution WITHOUT antibiotics? In the past I have taken a low-dose one every 24 hours if I have been having sex and it has worked wonders. More recently I have used cranberry and lots of water/no sweet fruits, etc and had luck, but it seems to only work if my sex life is sporadic.

So...any alternative treatments you can recommend for prevention (food/supplements)? PLEASE do not suggest cranberry and blueberry...I have tried almost everything that is fairly common knowledge. I have been to a naturopath in the past and also considered surgery to widen my urethra...ugh.

These are some things I have heard about recently:

+ D-Mannose
+ Functional Silver or Colloidal silver
+ Omega 7 with Sea Buckthorn

Anyone tried these with success? Silver makes me nervous a bit - I do not want to turn blue hahaha. I heard it is really good though.

And I am willing to try uva ursi. I DO NOT WANT to be on antibiotics for ever to maintain my sexlife - but I will if I have to even if I have to be only partially raw to not be so sensitive. I am not willing to give up my sex life.

Please help!

Hi I am a healthcare practitioner, who is also raw, perhaps you need to look at energy work like Reiki , jin Shin Jyutsu or myafacial release (look at the web sites ).
These therapies will work holistically and will all work around the bladder area to release muscle, tendons scar tissue, etc. If you have had infections before ,you probably have some scar tissue that needs realeasingin the bladder . If you can get a Human Body Field scan from a nutrienergetic practitioner, see nutrienergetics.com The NES scan will look at the problem on an energetic level to see what messages are not getting through to the body, you take something called infoceuticals which are quite natural and will only work on the problem of disharmony shown on the scan. Whereas if you take supplements ,which I am not saying is wrong, they can be very general. If you can think that the UTI is where the problem is showing up and perhaps not the not cause. Anyway just an opinion hope it helps. love and light Jenny x

I wish I knew something to help Lorra.

Jenny, great idea. I've had energy work for many different things. It's amazing, imo.

Ah thanks...

most things are not an option right now in those terms...since I am pretty broke.

Sigh.

You could try. Some energy workers don't charge money. They might make a trade, or ask for a donation, or even a kiss on the cheek. Energy workers can be an unusual crew. You might not need to write them off so fast.

Reiki and craniosacral didn't me charge too, and a few others. Is Jin Shin is best for UTI?

Hi Its just jin shin is easy and you learn self help so it is an ongoing thing you can do your self at home for all stuff. Practitioners teach a two day self help class which is quite cheap.

Don't be afraid of colloidal silver- only badly prepared silver will do that, and even then, you'd have to take it daily for a loooong time to turn blue;) Some good brands are Natural Path/Silver Wings and Sovereign Silver.
Sea buckthorn is great to heal up the mucous lining of the U.T. tract.
There's a great probiotic for U.T.I.'s and yeast infections- Jarrow Femdophilus. I'd recommend that above all else, since you've already had antibiotics. You could take that and buy bulk uva ursi and marshmallow root to make tea, which would save you $$$.

Also, sometimes we women get U.T.I.'s when we are "pissed" about something, yet keeping it to ourselves. The body sometimes manifests symptoms in a really literal way!

What about golden seal Erin? Any use?

'..pissed" about something, yet keeping it to ourselves. The body sometimes manifests symptoms in a really literal way!..'

i got a ut thing only about 2x, there was no bacteria one time, so antibiotics weren't needed, lol, but i'm thinking now yeah, you got something there erin, my guy, i was pretty "pissed" about some stuff he was doing, he had a way of pissing his women off, he said his ex b4 me got the same type of ut thing, and after i left he married a nice woman, and she left him, she must have been "pissed" too. otherwise i really don't have more history of ut problems. it takes a lot before i'm pissed

Things that have worked for me/my customers/colleagues ;

Coconut water (hydrating)
Sprouts
Pure Synergy (all alkalising)
Probiotics
Antifungals esp oregano
Solidago (treats the kidneys)

Gotu Kola nourishes the bladder lining and arginine can increase bloodflow to the pelvic region thus improving the integrity of the bladder lining (it is often shown by biopsy to be comprimised in long term cystitis sufferers).

Are you sure that you are suffering bacterial infections? If your symptoms are recurring, perhaps look into adrenal stress and interstitial cystitis- there is loads of info via google. I have tried D-Mannose and this was also helpful. Try this site;

http://www.waterfall-d-mannose.com/

There is a lot of useful info on there. In general I would avoid cranberry and dried/unripe fruit as much as possible. I'm sure I don't need to tell you to avoid sugar, alcohol, bread etc. Be careful with nuts. If they have been pre-cracked, there are very likley moulds lurking which will not help the situation. Also they are very acid forming.

If you are suffering a genuine bacterial infection, by all means try uva ursi or any other herb/nutrient with antibacterial properties, there are thousands. Make sure that the doctors always test your urine before you start trying to kill bacteria and if possible, find out the exact strain!! Antibiotics can make long term cystitis worse!!

Look into candidiasis- if you have been on and off the antibiotics, this could be an issue and 'cystitis' is a common symptom.

Also think about cleansing- colonics are great but enema kits are cheap. Check out Suki's website- it has loads of info and a great links page and reading list. Probably the best on the web in my opinion.

www.qito.wordpress.com

One more thing- inflammation. Turmeric is a very powerful anti-inflammatory. Get the best quality you can. New Chapter make a product called Zyflamend which is also good (the formula includes turmeric)

Any questions please ask

Good luck!!!
