Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

I've been a vegan in the past, but have just started going raw completely. I wonder if most of you on this site are 100% raw, or are you still having small portions of cooked food.

A boiled tuber helped mess me up last week (no salt no fat)

I used to like to put a little olive oil on them. :)

i so agree with this, at least for me, i started including the cooked veggies in place of eating nut heavy meals so often and felt a lot lighter.

love your response debbie--and thank you for telling me about your raw food coach business--I am definitely thinking about it :)

I am a month in to raw foods and average around 70% (although it is hard to pinpoint a percentage, of course). I can feel the benefits, but at the same time, I definitely think I would feel much better if I increased the raw food. Today I ate mostly cooked food (the weekends are the hardest for me, since I am out and about), and now I have a horrible tummy ache. :-/ Lesson learned!

If you are going to eat cooked food, I would keep it to those foods which are low in mucous forming activity such as cooked veg, cooked sweet potatoes and yams and millet. I did about 5 to 10 percent of that stuff for years with great results.

Probably a good suggestion. Those are basically more or less the few cooked foods that don't help promote ulcers.

yep, if and when i eat cooked, it's quinoa, millet, steamed asparagus.

which cooked veggies form mucous??? i have elimated dairy from my diet and feel tons better, but i was not aware of veggies causing mucous. i have heard lemons and high alkaline foods get rid of mucous.

Thanks for the advice! I'll keep it in mind. :-) Hopefully I can just cut out most of the cooked food altogether...that would be ideal. LOL!

The weekends are hard for me also as my wife works two sixteen hour shifts at her work and I have to cook for my father in law and my two boys.

i can see how that would be hard...especially with the temptations and its easy to make a big batch of food for everyone. You could try to prepare yourself a large salad thats really filling with avocado and seeds. Or make some lettuce wraps that are quick and easy and filling at the same time so you can eat slowly with your family.
