So I am starting into my second week on the raw vegan diet. I was a normal vegan for almost 2 years before this. For the past two days, I have had a non-stop stomach ache, and I can't even remember the last time I had a stomach ache. I have also been sleeping way more than usual and can barely stay awake during the day. Anyone know why I might be having these awful stomach aches and have no energy at all? I work as a toddler teacher and there is no way I'll be able to function like this tomorrow at school....
Any Advice? I am about ready to call it quits on being RAW.
Ummm the first thing that comes to my mind would be have you done an enema??? Maybe your tummy is hurting cuz you got to go.. ;0) Sorry..... other than that.... I wouldnt know where to start.... as Im just learning as well.... I hope you feel better soon thO!!!
Hi Misti. I am new too. I was just wondering how you are feeling now - any better? Are you 100% raw? Maybe it's just detox? The detox thing freaks me out.
Are you still 100% raw? I just joined but your problem does sound familiar. I would advise seeing a naturopath that will be sympathethetic toward a raw diet otherwise you might find it helpful to alter the amount of raw food you eat and to ensure that nuts and seeds are thouroughly soaked to aid digestion. I found that slowly changing over to completely raw helped.
Eating healthy vegan and minimally proccessed food that are not raw is okay too, even celebrity raw chefs such as Rennee Loux include cooked foods in their recipe books. Nutrition should be about your constitution and well being and not how true you are to a cause.
it sounds like your body is 'detoxing' too quickly. jumping right in to a raw food diet can do all kind of things to your body...perhaps easing into it more and doing one cooked meal per day would help.
I am also in the second week of my raw vegan diet. Yesterday during work at around 3pm, I got so tired I could barely keep my eyes open! I am also feeling a bit under the weather, and every morning when I wake up I just want to pull the covers over my head and sleep for 8 more hours!
I am not positive that this is the answer to why this is happening to us, but our bodies are going through detox for the first two weeks of this diet. After the two week period, you should feel a significant energy change.
I am also new to raw foodist, but my trainer said, and she is a raw food specialist. So this is coming from her. She said:"The first three or four days into raw food, she had no energy. And she was just blah. but after that, she was alright. It is just a systom going through the raw stages is what she called it. Because I was the same way. My stomach hurt the other day. but I have noticed if you juice in the morning, or do a smoothie, it gives your more energy. And my trainer has told me that as well. I have been doing this not as long as yall, but I have been feeling the ups and downs already.
talk to you later. Hope this helped you.

Hi, I'm also new to this forum but that sounds similar to what used to happen to me. You might need digestive enzymes or a GOOD probiotic. I love renewlifes' probiotics, or Bio+K also makes a nice probiotic with no dairy/lactose in it.
I hope that helps!
it seems like a detox - depending on what your eating - i got kicked off a forum one time for suggesting a cooked meal to someone going through some heavy symptoms in there late stages of raw food veganism. so I'm reluctant to tell you to try some lightly steamed veggies. and see if that evens things out for you - if not the next step would be to take a look at what your eating - one of them may be causing your stomach aches - try to remove one thing at a time each day until you find out which one it is. whatever you remove for the day you can add it back if it doesn't hurt your stomach. use your instincts - they can tell you what food it is or were the problem is coming from, just trust yourself and follow them
if it does happen to be detox then you can slow it down with fatty raw foods if you like by eating olives or avocados - you can also try nuts and seeds or grains like quinoa. detox happens when the toxic stuff is being extracted from the body - we get symptoms when this happens too fast - sometimes the body just needs rest and will just knock you out to force you to rest. most if the time this happens mid day when you need to be up - natural enemas like salt water flushes can quickly remove the detox symptoms with in 45min after use. green juices in the morning can help but if your starting you might not like green juices and i don't suggest you do anything you don't like so. the last thing you can do is take the good advice of the people that wrote in this forum - they are all very good suggestions - the probiotics and enzymes are great ideas and going to a sympathetic naturopath is a good idea if our advice hasn't helped you.
be moderate - there have been raw vegans that have been doing this for over 35 years that had to learn to be moderate with themselves after undergoing transformation within there body and life. life its self is a constant balancing act - this is what makes life stimulating and vibrant. many have dull and hard lifes because they do the same things over and over again thinking things will change but they seem to get worse and adds to there frustration - the raw vegan life-style is a way of accepting change as it comes also doing and finding what works for you. everyones diet after a few years becomes very personal to them - after some years they have found what works for them - it takes time to find out what foods work for you and what foods don't agree with you - we are all very different between our bodies, our make up (body-type) and our lifestyles. learning this makes veganism transcend, "just what you put in your mouth" - its starts to rebuild every element of your life.
hope this helps - sometime you can just ask yourself the questions and the answer to your problem with just come to you.

I also wanted to add something here. I am trying new things now, and I still have no energy. I even drink the green juice, or I make me a green shake. I walk a mile for exerice, and I still like my body wants more sleep. I go to bed by 10, and I dont get up till 9. Which I was used to getting up by 7. But I still just want to lay around. Yesterday, was like a burst of energy though, since I rearranged my livinging room. I think I need more receipes! Any good ones yall can share?
