I was curious as to which food people go for when they choose to eat cooked foods. I know that there are some on this site that are 100% and this wouldn't apply to them. But, there are people on this site that are high raw or transitioning and eat cooked foods on a daily basis or periodically.
I was wondering, when you go to eat cooked food, what is the ONE thing that you crave the most?
Mine is roasted and salted sunflower seeds. I have tried several recipes for raw sprouted unshelled sunflower seeds and I just haven't been able to duplicate it. I'm still trying.....
But, when I crave something cooked, that is what it is. I'm not sure if it because I smoked many moons ago and need the hand to mouth repetition, or I just love the taste of sunflower seeds and I love sunflower sprouts.
I thought it would be a fun topic to discuss what everyone's favorite cooked food is being that we talk so much about raw foods (I know that is what this site is all about folks).
I think it would be legal in some parts of the orient at least. There was a NipTuck episode where a man fed a chunk of his arm skin to his hypoglycemic wife, but he cooked it with a lighter. What cut would you eat Suvine? Underbelly? I think that's what they use mostly with tuna.
I had a quote that got me through my first year of being gluten-free and now I will bring it back to consciousness:
"Nothing tastes as good as feeling good feels"
for me, nothing is worth the taste of putting my body back to an unhealthy state. so i suppose it depends on your motivation. honestly, i am not really craving cooked food. although it helps that it is warm out and I live near a great food coop.
Thank you for the quote, i like it.
I do not crave any cooked food either except for the crackers (organic of course) simply because the one I try to make myself do not taste great! ahah! But if i were to eat cooked food for any reason, it probably would be quinoa. Why? I love it. Simple as that.
I'm new to this and either am yet to try good raw or raw versions at all of the above foods. 'cept for roast potatoes, i doubt that can be replecated :(. Oh and Indian, i though i've had quite a few good raw indian adventures so far...
my mothers famous meat-less gulash served with her even more famouse potato salad. My gosh I still miss it........But I will get to taste ( again ) polish dark rye bread that she is sending me in a parcel. should arrive by monday. Can't wait becouse also will get her fabulous pickled ( cooked ) home grown cucumbers and tomatoes from her garden..........
Well, after yrs of unloving of each other we have become super good friends. She accepted my diet ( only member of my family to do so ). I had tought her to become sustainable gardener, as she is still growing her own produce today in Chicago. She saves all her seeds from that garden and sends me some every yr. Those are the best organic seeds , grown to produce super ones we cultivate for about 17 yrs. She really is cool , we mis-understood each other for way too long. I feel that I have influenced my peers ( including my children, some friends and strangers along ) , but am very greatfull to have a very good relantionship with her. I still hope that she is ready to give up living in big city and settle near me. I believe that she would really enjoy small town atmosphere. We will see !............ALL LOVE....................I no longer eat her diet, but once a while she sends 3-4 jars with these incredible pickles. I still like that sort of food to eat. I am not 100% raw. But if I will , propably will follow my mothers recipie to pickle some raw ( yes raw green tomatoes ) in fgollowing to long Polish tradition .
i heard from a teacher once that the meaty palms were cannibals delicacies
oh and honestly this thread is terrible for the weak. the best way i give not into temptation is not thinking about it. and of course remembering my path and vibrancy. but keeping all the "bad" good stuff out of my mind is best for me.
I agree. Shame on you Pink! *smile* I found it always best to sit in firm denial of any such favorites. And to remember they are only fool's gold, no better than heroin or cocaine. With such a mindset, firmly replanted at each temptation...you become stronger. Letting in a trickle of water, can slowly wear down the strongest dam.
