Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

Raw food and menstruation...

So for us ladies, I've heard some stuff about being raw and your cycle. I've heard differnt things so im going to bullet these things...and then you can give your experience or thoughts...

being raw and your period:

-you don't get it very so often?

but adding my input, i read an article that we aren't even really supposed to have a 'horrible' week b/c in the past women never got it real bad until they introduced meat or cooked foods into thier diet...which made it heavier, and worse.

-eating raw makes your cyle worse?
-doesn't make you get it at all?

there's other things but i can't remember....

but have you seen a change monthy since you've gone raw? do you get as bloated? I haven't yet b/c i just passed mine, and this is my 2nd day raw...

First time I went raw, I had never had any menstrual problem, so my period remained the same, maybe lighter. More recently, basically the same thing. Maybe bloat comes from salt, I've never been much of a salt eater (except during the earlyish years of my marriage during which time my periods temporarily were late and early heavy and headachy during that time).

Mine are extremely few and far between since going raw. My last one was about 7 weeks ago! When I get them they usually only last a day or so, no cramps or anything.
Hooray for raw :)

really...wow. thats what I mean, I've heard of women getting it very spanned out and light. A day? wow...thats glorious...hahha. But is it good for this to happen? I actually think its perfectly normal, but i have no idea (or at least i'd like to wish it it..hahah.) I just recollect that article..i'll try to find it....

any other replies?

I'm not entirely raw yet but the majority of my diet is and its soooooo much lighter now. I forget that anything is going on really and I still get cramps but not like before. Before I felt like I was dying and it was so hard to even get out of bed but now its fine.

I've been raw since January. I've had 3 periods since then. The first was normal. In April I started detoxing, that one was the most miserable period I've ever had. It was longer than usual and I had PMS for longer beforehand. The period that just passed was also bad, but not as bad as the last one. The PMS and lower back pain/cramps also came earlier than usual but wasn't as bad as April. I hope the trend continues and it lessens once I'm done detoxing.

I've read that the period is a time for the body to detox, so when your body is detoxing from a SAD diet anyway, I'm sure it utilizes the period to help get rid of everything. It sure felt like my body was going through a battle haha.

I'm about 90% and have been for about 5 months, but my periods are pretty much the same. I still get cramping and they still get very heavy on the second day. I was hoping for a little relief! Who knows, for some people it may never change, or may take a while to change

Hi I was just reading, Love your body by Viktoras ,and just read ''The menstrual fow robs her of nutrience needed for brain and body development. The more toxic the body, the longer and more difficult the menstrualperiod. In a detoxified body,it would be reduced to a clear flow lasting no more than an hour.''

On a personal note I have become more regular more aware of my cycle and have a much shorter cycle

Thank you for the quote. I'm glad you're less irregular.

I've been 95-100% for some time now...and I haven't had my period since I up-ed my "rawness" from about 75% to 90+ %..though, even when I was just vegan with a clean diet, my periods would only show up maybe 6 times a year tops.
can't say that I miss them either. haha

Wow that is so exciting .
I am 100% but only back on raw since the first of the year.I am really watching my menstation to see what continues to change .I love thinking it could be an hour .This does not effect ovulation right?

Naw. If you're healthy, you still ovulate even if your flow is brief and light. Being raw can help you feel if you ovulate and on which side each time.

Cool that is what i thought .I can feel which side and can follow the cycle I like knowing that it just is fewer and fewer because even though I have regulated more it is a longer cycle

anyhow fun playing with this
