Give it to me Raw - Raw Food Community

Raw at work — what do you pack?

I just finished lunch and I'm embarrassed to tell you what I ate.

SO, I was wondering ... what does everyone take to work?
I have a busy morning getting both me and my 2-year-old ready and out the door and to work by 8 a.m. I need stuff that's portable, quick and things I can put together the night before. Right now I always bring fruit to snack on during the day, but it's not enough. I'd like to make my lunch 100% raw.

Ideas?

I prepare everything the night before, with the exception of a salad. Salad I prefer to make fresh first thing in the morning. I make multiple zip lock bags which contain: dates, nuts, berries ( dried or raw) seeds etc..either mix or separate. I leave some bags of my fav mix in my drawer at work and always have a bag in every purse I own. I make sure I have at least a good breakfast before I leave so I can just snack if I get hungry before I have lunch. Having breakfast at home is hard for me b/c i need to take meds on an empty stomach in the morning. So I take my fruit/smoothies etc with me and have them once I reach the office. Every Mon I bring couple of days worth of veggies and fruits and leave them in our office kitchen. Since no one in my office likes fruits ..no one really touches them (:P) My problem is when I have to go out at night, and make last min plans to meet friends and clients. I end up spending money for salads and fruits so I don't get hungry at night. At least those bags come in handy ;) hope this helps cheeers!!! :D

i find bringing salad ingredients and assembling at work to be the easiest and quickest!

when i sleep in late or don't have time to put anything together, i'll grab a box of pre-washed lettuce (the plastic box is great for eating out of!) or couple romaine hearts and whatever other salady things i have on hand (avocado, soaked and dehydrated or flavoured nuts, dulse, dried fruit etc.)

the office i work in has a sink so i can wash the lettuce and i keep a bottle of flax oil in the fridge and some sea salt and chopsticks at my desk. having the oil and salt also makes it possible to go for a walk at lunch to a grocery store to buy a cucumber or tomato or whatever to make a simple salad.

When I worked I in my 7-3:30 daily job fruits were my choice, always something simple like couple apples, oranges and cucumbers.................thank goodness I don't have to work 5-6 days a week like I used to.

I make my hubbys lunch...so its usually:
-Green smoothie for breakfast (in bed) usually spinach, strawberries or peaches, green powder + honey
-Some grawnola and nutmilk for when he gets to work (this doesnt have to be 'prepared stuff" you can just mix crushed nuts/seeds with dried fruits.. I made some PB granola the other day by mixing almond butter, jungle peanuts and pecans, then adding some blackberries! it was PB +J at its best!
-banana/apple/orange/kiwi for a snack
-Huge salad that changes everyday. The basics are: greens, hempseeds, carrots, peppers, avocado, sprouts, tomato
(hes got a mini chopping board and a knife at work to cut up the avo and apple for the salad)
-More snacks! Lara bars, chili flax crackers, dried mango slices, veggies + dip (hes a growing boy!)

you can make salsa and have nachos with some flax crackers (if you have a dehydrator)
soups are good...I havent experimented much with them yet..
Make a batch of bread and keep it in the fridge for days you dont want a salad...
you can throw together a sandwich, a mini pizza..... its endless!

yet ask me tomorrow morning what Im making for him and I have no clue... HA!
Goodluck!

my day varies, usually i will take three or four pieces of fruit as snacks, and sometimes half a vacuum flask of smoothie from the morning batch, or a salad - sometimes leftover from the night before, bulked up with more sprouts, cherry tomatoes etc. there is a health food shop not far from my work, so maybe once i week i will buy a raw snack bar from them that has figs, sunflower seeds etc in it. the other day when i went there, i also ended up buying a punnet of organic blueberries and eating the whole lot with my smoothie for lunch :) Before i started doing high raw, i used to go out virtually every day to buy lunch .... which usually included a takeaway coffee, sometimes a cookie or something else sweet, and maybe sushi, or if they had any, fresh fruit salad. I am finding it so much better to not have to go out, to say nothing of cheaper :) oh and also maybe once a week i will go to the juice bar at the mall and get a fresh juice.

Why don't you try eating fruit all day long? As much as you want and as often as you like and then eat a raw vegan salad type meal at home? Thats what I do! It works great! SUPER easy :-)

Fruit is awesome, but for me it's a no-no because I suffer from insulin resistance. Right now I take 2 Mason jars of green juice to work with me (and will probably take 4 in the future). Before I started drinking green juices, though, I would make a great big salad and take that to work. I'd often have taboule on it, which can be quite filling. YUM!

There are always non-sweet fruits too. Cucumbers and some hemp butter would be great and easy to bring to work.
Tomatoes, squashes...etc. Your green juices lose their life force after about 20 min of making them...youre better off making a green smoothie and having the juice in the morning and making some more at night. Youre wasting your juices if you dont drink them so fast....sorry to be a bummer about that.

Massive green juice in the morning, non sweet fruits and maybe an avocado for work, (or green smoothie) then a really nice salad and a cracker for dinner?

i wouldnt worry to much about green juices loosing their life force. What would happen if you dont drink it straight away?? Nothing, its stil very good for your body.
Everybody wants quick results, even I, but how quick can we ever get there.
I do think that raw food is much healthier if you dont stress and count vitamins like people are counting calories. the juice is best emediately, but you can have them later on aswell.
I remember i tried so hard in the beginning, to make everything correctly, you have to do this and then that .... quite anal i would say :)) it only got me stressed up. Enjoy life! Hugs

i just pack dried fruit, nuts and seeds, apple and sometimes a vegetable salad (from previous night's dinner) put in a thermos. I'll also sometimes take a green smoothie (leftover from breakfast) in a thermos.

I

I place these in brown paper bags. I don't ever use plastic due to environmental pollution but also it's really bad for the health. Plastics contain xynoestogens that mimick the female hormone oestrogen. They create much imbalance in
female hormonal status. Males also absorb these gases and receive too much oestrogen.

Well.. a 1.5 l botol of Volvic ( I must drink a lot even it means rushing to the toilet lol).. A box of muesli mix with berries. A packet of sunset mix. Banana and also a prepared mixture of (raw hemp seed, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed, coco powder, linseed gold). If I got yogurt I'll bring it with me. Usually I have Jasmine tea every 2 hrs but now I only have it one in the morning and in the evening. Some of the stuff like the muesli, jasmine tea and sunset mix I'll leave it in the kitchen drawer. I only bring back half bottle of the drink to gym afterwards.

Wow we are all so diff! i have a green smoothie for breakfast and if there is some left over take it with me. If you have a slow masticating juicer then I understand that it's ok to store your juice for a few hours in a sealed flask. If you have a centrifugal juicer then you ideally drink it straight away. If I am really stuck I take nuts and seeds and an avocado and sprouts and lemon which I squeeze on it and eat at work. otheriwse i take a salad I have left over from the night before. I always get hypoglycemic mid morning so eat some protein in nuts and a raw bar for ease ,and a peice of fruit.
You need to take things you will fancy eating and that will make you fel satisfied.
Good luck!
Sam
