woow... how random is that!? sorry about the late reply... it's been hectic, i've been travelling a lot and am now in costa rica. loved bali, did a yoga teacher training there with daniel aaron. where are you now? sending much warmth and joy from costa rica
Thanks for the durian last night man...totally made my day! Sorry I missed ya...had a juice and ended up going to look for the king of fruit myself! If you're going to that meet up tonight, let me know and I'll be there!
Yes, I've indeed made a lot of changes in my life going from the world of Wall Street to professional speaking and now I'm going through another shift of sorts this year. It's rather mysterious as I don't know where I'm heading yet I feel reassured and am not worried.. You said you love tropical living but aren't you in Oregon? Or did you move somewhere tropical?
I'm trying to find the YouTube video where you were filmed somewhere and asking the viewers if they thought you were too thin. You had a bunch of responses that indicated otherwise.
I see from Colin's message below that you got hurt from surfing? I hope you're okay!
As for whether I feel like visiting - where are you talking about? Oregon or somewhere else? While I can't say for sure, ever since beginning a substantially raw diet (I'm not 100 percent raw but substantially so), I've been known to drop things at a moment's notice and go somewhere like I did last November when I suddenly decided to go to London for a week without any planning or forethought. I just did it. And it was a hoot! You never know.
Hey Darrick,
Where are you? I have about 6-7 weeks holidays coming up in about 2.5 weeks, and still haven't chosen a place. Anyhow, not sure where I'm going, but maybe we could hook up somewhere. It sounds like you have been suffering a bit, fractured rib, and now teeth problems. Good luck with it all!!!
Hi Darrick,
Hope you're recovering well from your surfing injury. I had cracked ribs a few years back from an intense basketball game. Pretty painful, and took a while to heel. Also, how is the fast going? So, how long are you planning on being in the Philippines? I'm probably going to take a 2 month brake over Feb and March and now planning where to go. My original plan was to go back to India, this time Goah, for more yoga, but I;m now thinking of other options such as Costa Rica, Thailand, or even back to Australia for the first time in nearly five years. Or, maybe even hook up with you in the Philippines.
Trailer, or saddle bags for a 3+ month tour in hawaii?
Do you take your trailer with you when you fly? I'm also going to be hitching rides on boats to get to other islands. I'm thinking the trailer will be too clunky.
I checked out your blog and noticed this: "Around January, 2007 I sold or gave away most everything I owned. Now I live out of my backpack and am vagabonding around the world to surf, experience different cultures, learn, love, grow, and give and of course EAT delicious Vegan food everywhere."
How do you do it? It reminds me of an older woman who called herself "The Pilgrim Woman" (there's a book with the same name about her life, very interesting and inspiring). She traveled the USA on foot to promote peace and did the same thing as you did - gave up all her possessions. Somehow she managed to find shelter and food with no money of her own. She walked over 25,000 miles in all weather conditions until the Lord called her home.
Tell me more about your journey. I'm very curious. I also saw a video of you where you asked viewers if they though you were too thin. I didn't respond but will do so now - the answer is NO. You are not too thin. In fact, you're in great shape, something I'd like to be in. There, I said it.

Darrick,
What kind of bike would you recommend for traveling? Like what kind of bikes do you guys use? Are they portable/able to be taken apart?
Thanks Todd

Dude I will totally join you. I was planning on doing what your doing many months ago, just haven't gone through with it yet. Shoot me a message when you get this so we can talk.
I think that's absolutely wonderful that you sold all your possessions and are now a "vagabonding vegan"! I very much admire that :)

thanks for the info darrick! i just got back from an incredible trip to hawaii and already am planning my next getaway. perhaps it will be the philippines for surf and fresh fruit!
cool, the philippines! they must have tons of wonderful things to eat and see there! what is your favorite attraction there? i wish i could go! i just got a job here at a health food store however, so i am staying stationary for a bit (we will see how long that lasts).
hey where are you in mindinao? my mom is from manticao in misamis oriental. i was born and raised in canada and am in school in LA now... maybe i need to immigrate back ;)
Larabars are 100% raw (well, most of them) and they're really good. Think Organic bars are raw and organic. You'll get twice the Larabar for less money, but they're both really good.
Please share your easy desserts. I've finally gone 100% raw, but I'm having a hard time staying way from candy... (I haven't caved yet) I'm looking for desserts that don't need nuts as I'd like to eat them after dinner.
Thanks!

Tracy Russell Just made a yummy kale salad for lunch.
wow. that sounds great. I would go with
only one fat like oil or avocado but not both.
One fat, one sweet, one spicy, one bitter, one acid TADA raw food meal
I was thinking it would be nice if everyone could share their favorite (if possible, low-glycemic) juice recipes here. I'm very excited about the 29th but I would like some more variety with my juices! Thanks to everyone out there!
