My name is Alicia! I'm glad you're having such an awesome time living the raw lifestyle! That's really cool that things are unfolding so well. I starting thinking about going raw in an attempt t o boost my immune system and get some ENERGY. I live in the residence halls and work as an RA. Being in close quarters with so many people makes you really prone to getting sick plus my job is sometimes very stressful and wears me down. My roommate has a friend whose a raw foodist and she was telling me about some of the ideas behind it back in December. It's crazy to think that before that I had no idea that raw foodism even EXISTED! I started by going 100% for 20 days on January first and since then I've been eating a diet that's a high percentage of raw foods.
My friends think it's really wierd but they support me I guess, some more than others. My roommates love seeing what wierd foods I bring home and trying my crazy smoothies. I don't know what my favorite dishes really are yet. I haven't tried anything too gormet, I'm just experimenting with different combinations and some superfoods.
One way in which this site has really surprised me is in the huge span of different people are a part of it. It's really my only way to connect with other people who are exploring raw foods as I don't have contacted with people who are like-minded in this way on a daily basis. I've strugged with eating disorders in the past, namely BED (binge eating disorder) and this is the first place where I have met others struggling with the same thing and using raw foods to heal. It's always a comfort knowing others are going through the same thing you are.
I've been practicing yoga on and off since I was a sophomore in high school so I guess about 4 years now. I've taken classes here and there and I aboslutely LOVED it. Now I'm pretty content with my own personal practice though it does help to have that set time in your schedule for it since life can often get crazy busy. That's so awesome that you're teaching classes. I considered that for a while actually. I have noticed that eating raw has really helped motivate me to do more yoga. They both have so much to do with being at peace with your body. How long have you been certified for?
Hey Sophia! Just noticed your post in the Raw in College group and thought I'd say hi. I'm looking to make some raw foodie friends who are about my age since I feel like being raw in college is an experience in it's own. How long have you been raw for?
I go to Palm Beach Atlantic University. Not a yoga teacher at the moment, but would like to become one. That's so cool that you're getting certified!
My brother's name is Jason. He's an economics concentration I believe.
Hey. Thats nice that your friends are interested in raw foods also. Im still living with my mom and she is very supportive of me. Ive been 100% for 5 months now and Im really liking. My mom eats raw with me when I eat dinner at her house and my dad and step mom like making raw food dishes with me too. Im lucky. It would be really hard to not have support from my family. Thats cool thats youre going to go get certified as a yoga teacher! How did you get into raw foods? What else are you interested in? Its nice to meet you! :)

Hi Sophia, I went to Costa Rica last February and loved it. Wasn't mango season yet, but I loved the different bananas and the watermelons and pineapples were great! Nice to hear from another raw yogini.
I grew up in Palmetto about 20 miles north of Sarasota. Is there any sand nicer than the sand on Siesta Key Beach? Is there anything raw happening in Sarasota yet?
don't agree with the whole raw food creating a damp environment thing because of the wildly different effects of different raw foods. i've found candida to respond to 100% raw, several different approaches.
I like to do fasts as well and I think the power in fasting is that its a remedial action, one part of the process of purifiying. For instance if you feel you have a lot of non-virtuous residue or spiritual obstacles to remove, you generate regret...
probably detox...detox is interesting and creative. thanks for the strength of putting it all out there! it takes a lot to stick with it when the body cleanses. you can do it though i can tell you know it....8^))
you need to whack it right around the top of the coconut with either a heavy handled knife or a machete..im an expert now and crack open those babies in no time....
are you having to take off the outer green shell,or just crack open the white coc...
we are hugely blessed to have Loren here i so agree...
ahh complete rest with eyes closed....sounds wonderful...just the not eating part for that long,i guess after a while you would lose your 'hunger' anyway ??
i would say give it time...if you are feeling flu like symptoms i would say you are detoxing...40 days isnt a long time, when you consider how long you havent been 100% well..your body will heal and clean house in its own time....
