#1 Eat lots of greens.
#2 Focus on higher calorie fruits (bananas, dates, figs, grapes, mango). Buy lots and have them handy. Eat as many as you can so that you aren't craving cooked carbs between meals.
#3 Get out in the sun
#4 Get your heart rate up high for 15 min everyday
#5 Sleep as much as you care for (allow for this)
If you can stick to all of that you're on the right track.
If you have any questions along the way I would be happy to help if I can.
IMHO, there isn't anything necessarily "wrong" with the green smoothies, I just want to make sure people are aware of what they are doing. As long as they know what they are doing and have not been deceived, then I have done my job.
Your plan sounds good. I just want to make one thing clear. There is no program on the planet that recommends more greens than the 80/10/10 diet. You are not going to be able to get sufficient greens by making green smoothies.
Granted, if you ate the greens in a salad, it would also take you many months to learn how to eat a sufficient quantity of greens.
Hopefully your going to blog or share your nutridiary screen shots somewhere. Dr. Graham recommends 2-6% of our calories come from greens. Thats a lot of greens!!!!!
Your going to have a hard time getting accurate measurements of greens without a food scale. I highly suggest getting one. They are cheap.
To figure out what percent of calories are coming from greens you take the calories you got from greens and divide it by the total amount of calories you consumed for the day (including the greens) and then you will get a percentage.
If you eat sufficient calories and consume green smoothies you will probably be around 1%.
How many calories are you looking to consume per day?
Congrats on loving your self enough to take a 6 week challenge. Any particular person start up this challenge with you? If you want, I'll help you through it. If your willing, get a cheap food scale and input your daily food intake into Nutridiary.com. Money back guarantee this will make all the difference in the world in your experiment. Even if you do it a few times a week. Self-Awareness is the corner stone of health. If you don't know what your doing your going to jackl in your mind all day about this and that and probably make excuses of why the program doesn't work for you. I am also an athlete seeking peak performance in every aspect of my life. When I started the program I consulted with Dr. Graham for 90 days. The first week I just at bananas. The second week I ate bananas and added lettuce. Then I added one fruit a week or so and haven't looked back since. I have risen in love with mono meals!!!
