Oh Figseed, there is no secret to the backbend! I was born a contortionist, so I just got lucky! And thank you for the compliments, but as of yet, I know of no artist I have inspired. = )
yeah i only lived in calgary for 10 months, BC is much nicer lol, miraculously im still raw and still alive, ive been on a mostly fresh juice and smoothy diet for a while always switching it up a little though, what are you doing in Vancouver? got big plans and ambitions to chase? keep in touch :)
I go by Experience..as i said 90% of the stuff people make like flax crackers are sick to me, i make very thin crisps or wraps and i feel they balance the cold wet qualities of most raw foods. I have learned through experience not to trust most of the modern raw teachers about health -in the long run. Alot of people do well in the cleansing cycle but do not know how to build manna!
Ayurveda and chinese 5 elements has helped me enormously to understand the flaws and challenges that raw foodies get..(this is not to say that i agree with most conservatives in those fields on Raw foods!)
Chaunces are spice infusions in oil - a bit more complex. Rice is done all over the raw scene...I like mine with parsnips, a little coco oil and a pinch of saffron powder and salt. Potatoes are hard. I usually stick to thin sliced soft veggies in my coconut curries...hopefully i can get this book out this year.
most of the ayurvedic cleansing centers are in kerala. The only one I know by name is Kerala Ayurveda, but I can't say anything about how good it is. I think there is also a center in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu at the Aurobindo ashram, and several centers in Rishikesh.
It would probably be better if your friend contacted someone he/she knows in India. I suspect most of these centers are just spas masquerading as treatment centers for Westerners.
I'm glad you liked the kulfi. I made it for a few of my friends and family too and they all loved it too. The best part is how easy it is too make. Thanks for the picture. I like the idea of the smaller pieces.
You're right that the Vedas are not related to any religion. They are a pure science, the result of research done over thousands of years. I mainly just wanted to clear the air about some misconceptions people have about the ancient and sacred knowledge held within those verses. Even though I am vegetarian, I choose to defend those who eat meat because I don't believe in one path being more "right" or righteous than another. Those who criticize others for such practices, I feel, are choosing only to expose uncertainty in their own beliefs. This idea is what I feel the Vedas are all about; we can choose which path is right for ourselves, but to say what path is right for another is somewhat foolhardy. Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Mulsim, Jew, we all seek the same.
The Vedas contain several references to meat eating. There are numerous rituals enumerated in the Vedas involving animal sacrifice, including the sacrifice of cows.
hey. =D watch the bride and prejudice!! it's so good - i luv it!! i was there in india 2006 in the winter, after sri lanka. i was in kerala. where did you go?? did you see the taj mahal?? i want to see it so much!!! did you see sri lanka?? =D
I understand your reasoning behind being vegetarian (I am vegetarian too). Still, in regards to yoga and meat eating, I still believe that the two are not mutually exclusive.
Actually, during the time the Yoga Sutras were written, the idea of Vegetarianism was just beginning to spread throughout India. Before the spread of Buddhism and Jainism, Hindus included meats in their diets, including beef. Its likely, then, that Patanjali himself ate meat, just as many other avatars (like Ram, Laxman, Sita) had done before.
I have never dried them myself, but in France and Italy you can buy them already dried (at what temperature I don't know). It was awhile since I ate them (before I went raw).
Lost is same insanely good storytelling, character development. I love how they spend time flashing back to show you the character's demons and how the island is bringing them to face what used to be a big thing for them. Plus, you never know what...
Make this, it is my new favorite thing.
SALAD
-head of green cabbage, shredded
-4-5 green onions/scallions, sliced (all of white part and most of green part)
-1 avocado, diced
-2 ears of corn with kernals shaved off (some corn is better to eat ra...
We're a minority group within a minority group... I figured we needed our own little space to socialize! :) Besides, some of us are single and would like to meet other gay raw cuties! :)

I'll definitely post more.
