Give it to me Raw

Hmmm.. what would that be like? Smoothies in bed, surprise baggies of raw cashews in my purse, a full glass of water by my bed in the morning... cold watermelon on hot Arizona nights! Mmmm... I'm not entirely raw, but I'm at a point where it's so natural for me to 100% raw for an entire day and not even notice.. I balance my meals, I eat what I crave- because I feel like if my body craves it, it must be because I need it- I shop only in the produce section, and I absolutely despise eating out. As if finding a compatible companion wasn't hard enough.. :) I don't think my partner has to be raw, but he'd have to understand it and know why it was important to me. It's nice to daydream, though, isn't it? ;)

I love how everybody's diggin the smoothies in bed... yes, acceptance and support on both ends, for sure. I love the point about how if you're both detoxing at the same time it won't be so pleasant. hahaha. Wheagrass cheers to delicious relationships!

Hi! I can confirm all the positives, being in a relationship with my raw boyfriend is incredible, the support, knowledge exchange, understanding... organic shopping!!! And yes, smoothies in bed! We actually haven't yet run into any negatives... can't imagine there being any... unless he takes my last raspberry ;)

Went Raw with Zoe! I've always felt lucky to have had a raw partner. The fact that was also Zoe is too much to explain here. Wow! I am continually blessed.

My husband is going raw with me :) it's been a little over a month for us both now. He's like a grizzly bear though if there isn't food for him to just grab, and not just a banana! I have to keep more of the "gourmet" foods prepared so he has something to fill him up or he gets crabby. We haven't had smoothies in bed though, haha, with small children most of the romance goes out the window. BUT we did go run errands together today and we both took our huge green smoothies in the van with us :)

co-collaborating with the rawness may take extra time too
it could be a great support web, or a tunnel of messy dishes & desires

"Smoothies in bed" should be the name of a Raw Food dating service.

Before my first tentative foray into raw food - now 7 months ago - I sat down and talked to my partner. Having thought long and hard about my decision, I felt confident that I was going to give the raw diet a real chance to bring more light into my life. I showed him my friend Suki Zoe's photos of glowing faces, shining eyes and radiant joy zinging out of the raw foodists she had encountered on her journey through the US. I explained that I felt that I could be happier, shapelier, more balanced and more peaceful if I gave up eating cooked foods. I told him that I had doubts but wanted to give it a try. And you know what? He supported me. He's pure Italian - can't imagine life without pasta - but he's seen the positive change raw food has helped manifest in me and is convinced.

He now eats more than 50% raw, loves the salads and smoothies and understands when I turn down certain foods. I feel so grateful to him for his support. I don't know if I could have persevered in the early months of the transition diet had he chosen to tease me, or badger me to justify my dietary choices.

In the end, your diet isn't you. There are good and bad people across the spectrum of humanity. But the person with whom we choose to share our life, our bed, our mealtimes, our doubts and our joy has to make an effort to understand and accept who we really are. The sense of being loved and valued for who you truly are is the most grounding thing in the world. Raw or not raw doesn't matter. Acceptance and support is what it comes down to, I think.

My husband is on a SAD diet (ugh) and I can't convince him of his evil ways (hehe). But, don't worry! It works out wonderfully, the key is that you must truly love your partner despite your differences. After all isn't that what makes our world so interesting. Imagine if everyone were raw....what would we have to talk about then? My husband is also an atheist and I'm a Christian, he likes action films and I like Sci-Fi, he is a logical thinker and I think spiritually. Perhaps it is these differences that make us work so well. I make two dinners every night (and it is very exhausting), but the while I am making both of these dinners each night, I almost always say to myself isn't it better to be making two dinners than to be eating alone? Plus, I have a side job in my life that is very fulfilling- convincing my husband that raw is the way to eat, lol! Anyway, I do see your point and it is a lovely idea, but, being in love has a funny way of taking all of those ideals we have as a single person and throwing them out the door. In love and light, blessings be to you!

lol yes in many cases. Eating raw fruits and vegetables doesn't make someone more spiritual. If that were case, we could just eat our way to enlightenment. Many animals eat raw fruits and vegetables and still live at a gross level of ignorance an...
