Give it to me Raw

I seem to have more difficulty staying on raw and living foods in the winter. I'm from Northern ontario, and I am so accustomed to wanting hot foods especially after a day of snowboarding etc. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you get past it?

I seem to be going through a seasonal rut..

hi erica...some great suggestions here. i do the room temp with food and drink too. make a big salad for dinner and let it warm up before eating. and i love hot tea in the winter. strangely, i found that i can eat fruit for most of the day and still work outside for stretches of time. so i tend to cycle things both calorically and heavyness i suppose. go for a few days eating very 811-ish...then have a day or three with some raw gourmet heavier dishes...soups, kelp noodles, a dehydrated flax sesame bread type deal...then back to a more fruit based thing for some more time. my body responds to cycling like this.

Hi erica...I teach my students in my classes that get cold on 100% raw to go for a Coffee maker & have hot ginger tea and raw soups warmed in the coffee maker for a couple mins.....It works...

I definitely like a hot cup of tea in winter. I also try and not eat food straight out of the refrigerator. I try and let my food warm up to room temperature before I eat it. Same with water. The more food I eat at room temp and the less refrigerated or frozen food the better.

My hot fruity/spicy teas help me get through winter with a little manuka honey added.

Yes! The emotional yearnings of typical hot meals on cold days and holiday feasts at family gatherings gave me a lot of trouble this year. Last year, just as it was beginning to get really cold I bumped my raw up to nearly 100% so I was firm in my goals. This winter, I kept making exceptions, bringing my raw down to about 70% to 80%. I was feeling pretty sickly on mornings after my comfort food choices.
I'm back on track, aiming for 100% and I've been feeling much better.
-Hot tea with ginger to warm me up.
-Warm chocolate drink with chipotle.
-Skin brushing is a very quick warmer.
-I've started making extra foods ahead of time that contain fats and taste rich.
-I avoid television because of it's advertising.
-I'm experimenting with soups. My favorite right now is a spoonful of white miso in a bowl of warm water, zucchini noodles, chunks of avocado and sliced cherry tomatoes.

Not much change in my diet among different seasons out here in Hawaii. I was thinking of making a video on how to eat cold food in warm weather. I could use ice cubes to grow food in or just throw them at the trees and vines and tell them to get cold.

I find that even in cold rainy weather, if I eat right I don't need to wear much clothing and can even go hiking or gather wild foods in the rain and not get sick.

i live in Alaska, when i first went raw it was in the winter, i drank tons of organic loose leaf tea,Cayenne and water and hot water and lemon. I had huge emotional detox,no cravings for cooked food. ginger is another good warming spice and hot peppers

Can't stand stevia, just tastes wrong, chemical or something. There was a time when I didn't go a day without Agave but I don't have a need for it anymore.
