Give it to me Raw

I am already low in sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. I think it's related to the mercury in my body so I hope it will get in balance when I am detoxed (someday...*sigh*). What I experience though is a greater lack of sodium since I am eating so much fruit (because of the potassium). I get mild headaches and cramps, and so dry skin and a great thirst, I could drink all day. Now I am starting to put salt to my water and my salads and I think it's getting slightly better.
Many say that those symptoms are signs of detox. But is a lack of sodium really detox? I don't know if raw food is really able to put out all the heavy metals from my body and to cure my kidneys. I know a lot of people are eating high fruit wothour any salt and doing fine...but maybe they don't have those mercury and kidney problems so the body is able to regulate it. But anyway, sodium is an important stuff in our body...maybe that is the point why many fruitarians get problems after some time? Since the body is able to regulate this for a long period.
But a lack of sodium is a serious thing since it is used in large quantities in our bodies.
So...how long should a sky drin-detox symptom last? If it lasts for months maybe it's a not a detox symptom but lack of sodium?

Commet to RawBlueAngel on Carrie s Question on Lack of Sodium :

... it is great , to read that ! I lack of it very often as well . My natural tendency is to eat RAW at all , without anything else . I ' ve learned how NOT to , once I was breaking under Stress .

Some Mineral Waters have the right amount of Sodium , as well .

...

By the way , I have found a great thing :

Mineral Earth : is is Grüne Erde ( Green Earth ) in German , with all the minerals one needs to keep a balance of Base _ Acids in the system . And NOT to have a lack ... of . It is totally BIO , and easy to absorb . And it regulates the Methabolism .

I have found it at : www.bioeck.de

It comes from France ( Terra ) and one can order per Internet .

It is a very good and practical way to keep a balance in our bodies , if something fails ( typical VEG Symtom ) .

All the best , RawBlueAngel ! Teresa from Berlin

i would recommend eating more vegetable fruits to get sodium: cukes, tomatoes, celery, lettuce. our bodies can't easily utilize salt that we put into our foods - especially when cooked/heated. also, everything exists in balance in our bodies. sodium is in relation to other minerals in our bodies - particularly but not exclusively to potassium. so sometimes just adding a single mineral is not a healthy solution. check out www.rawschool.com for some good info IMHO. i wish you all the best & super health!!

Thank you for your info. But I had always low sodium in my blood tests. My kidneys are not working fine because of the mercury. So I guess that is why they are not regulating properly the sodium. That is why I sometimes have a really swollen face. Many people with amalgam have this puffy face. I guess it all will normalize when I go on detoxing but that is still a long way and I will have to find out if I need to supplement sodium - or restrict it. Don't know.

Hi Carrie i just found something interesting about sodium and kidney :)
Sodium: Essential in small amounts

Your body needs some sodium to function properly. Sodium:

* Helps maintain the right balance of fluids in your body
* Helps transmit nerve impulses
* Influences the contraction and relaxation of muscles

Your kidneys regulate the amount of sodium kept in your body. When sodium levels are low, your kidneys conserve sodium. When levels are high, they excrete the excess amount in urine.

If your kidneys can't eliminate enough sodium, the sodium starts to accumulate in your blood. Because sodium attracts and holds water, your blood volume increases. Increased blood volume, in turn, makes your heart work harder to move more blood through your blood vessels, increasing pressure in your arteries. Certain diseases such as congestive heart failure, cirrhosis and chronic kidney disease can lead to an inability to regulate sodium.

Some people are more sensitive to the effects of sodium than are others. People who are sodium sensitive retain sodium more easily, leading to excess fluid retention and increased blood pressure. If you're in that group, extra sodium in your diet increases your chance of developing high blood pressure, a condition that can lead to cardiovascular and kidney diseases.

here it says that high amount of sodium can create kidney problems

Right--it's good in smoothies too. It's a necessity when there's no fruit in there!

Hi Lizz, I haven't tried yacon; I think it's still too sweet, technically. I believe stevia is truly the only natural sweetener that is not a form of sugar. When I add vanilla flavor and a little coconut oil to the stevia, it's kind of like maple...
