Green Smoothies: The Door to Raw Living

The Green Smoothie Challenge is going really good. Green smoothies, I think, are the door to raw living. It is so easy to eat healthier when I have had that one drink for breakfast, as a snack, or an appetizer before dinner. I have had AT LEAST one green smoothie everyday, which is just the push I needed to stop eating so much rice and... CHOCOLATE!

I have a confession to make. I am addicted to chocolate, and have been my whole life. This is not going to be easy, I can hardly type the words, but I need to stop. My ritual every night is to have a warm herbal tea and some chocolate. Dark chocolate, the darker the better. There. I said it. Now I must follow through! I will start now. No chocolate tonight :(

On another note, remember that job interview I had? Well I finally decided to take it if the job was offered. And they didn't offer it to me. SOOO, on to new adventures! I am now shifting my energy towards designing ebooks (need your Word document formatted to a fancy PDF?) and this blog. Blogging is a brand new thing for me, as I never really liked writing. But I love the journaling qualities of it. It's like a massive email to the world (or only the three people who will actually read this, ha ha!). BTW, I would LOVE some feedback, as I find it very helpful in my process of learning.

I am contemplating taking a raw food un-cooking class. Specifically the Living on Live Food Level 1 & 2 classes, a certification course under Alissa Cohen. She has set up a system so that people can become certified and then teach others. I would love to learn more about educating others of the raw lifestyle, I just don't know if I am cut out for teaching. The class cost is an investment, and I need to make sure it is one I will follow through on. I can teach through Raw Living via video, but holding classes at my little apartment just doesn't seem feasible.

I would love to know what you think, but hurry! The class is this Thursday and I need to sign up before then.

Thank you, everyone! I love this community :) Sparrowrose: That is very helpful. it's interesting, because last night, about the time I was going to have some chocolate, I grabbed sunflower seeds instead. They just sounded good. Oh, and this morning I have a headache! I never realized how much this chocolate thing was affecting me. I just thought it was a little piece... no big deal. But I have a really big caffeine headache now! Drinking toooons of water today, maybe have a hot yoga session later to sweat it out...

Amanda: if you are still craving chocolate, try to get more magnesium-rich foods in your diet and see if that helps. For me, the great chocolate-buster was adding a spoonful of spirulina to my morning green smoothie. I LOVE the flavor of spirulina, but some don't like the flavor of spirulina, though. If you turn out to be one of the folks who dislike spirulina, try increasing other magnesium-rich foods like almonds, walnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. Also raw broccoli (or even better, broccoli sprouts), while not the magnesium powerhouse of the other foods I've listed, is a good source of magnesium.

(I realize that Natural Hygiene speaks against thinking of food in terms of micro-components like magnesium and I apologize if I've offended anyone with this post. I'm just sharing what has worked for me.)

Follow your heart! It seems as though you are going in the right direction. Where one door closes another opens.

that is a great idea, we must teach others how to be healthy, but truly, only you know if you really WANT to teach, the answer must come from inside yourself.

it seems like your intuition is to take the class. I think you should do it :)

Hi April, We get a fair number of applicants, and it varies all the time. It is absolutely NOT required that someone be raw for any length of time. What is required is that someone be truly open and coachable. This is paradigm-busting stuff bas...
