today's eats were
2 red grapefruit
smoothie of 1 lb of strawberries, 1 mango, 1 orange (such a delicious combo)
smoothie of 4 bananas (2 frozen), 4 stalks of celery
i had intended to have some kiwis too, but it's the end of the day and i'm not hungry at all. in fact, i could go to sleep right now at, uh, 8:45. i slept 12 hours last night, too. since the semester has ended, i've been sleeping like a rock every night. i've even started dreaming again. (for me, the school year = major sleep disturbances, insomnia, no dreams, sleep deprivation, etc etc). this week has been a welcome change.
my dreams have been weird, too. and tv themed, which is surprising since the only time i really watch tv is when i work out (i set up my laptop in front of the treadmill). i dreamed my life was the show 90210 (the new one- i was kelly). i also dreamed i was on survivor. the challenge was kind of an underwater, everyone for him- or herself capture the flag. the "flag" was a sandwich that we had to try to get across a finish line. somehow, the sandwich did not disintegrate underwater. durianrider was jeff probst. just take a second now and imagine DR as the host of a reality tv show. (by the way, i won the challenge- probably because DR was cheering me and my fruity strength. he wasn't a very unbiased host).
random thoughts of the day
copied from s's twitter- "So I'm going to try to eat less in order to spend less on food and save money. It will likely be the most difficult task in my life as yet."
seriously. times 1 million. i've been trying to do this, and on days i work out hard, undersleep, or face any sort of academic stress, this is reallyyyyy damn difficult. i may start eating more calorie dense fruits, like (soaked) dates, which i can get $5 for 1kg, in an effort to save some moolah.
i apparently have an iodine deficiency. shizzle. not sure whether i should supplement or eat more sea veggies. i'll probably supplement, as it's cheaper (and easier) than eating a bunch of dulse everyday. i have mixed feelings about supplementation. ideally, we wouldn't need it- we'd get everything we need from our diet. but, we don't exactly live in an ideal world, do we. (eg. the soil in my area is very deficient of zinc and selenium). in the case where taking a high quality, bioidentical form of a nutrient is more cost/energy efficient than getting it from food, you can bet i'll take that route.
if i had a million dollars, i would do the following, in this order:
pay off my debt (damn you, school)
eat REALLY well... green juice 3X a day! and tons of figs!
replace all of my parents' food with healthy alternatives (bye bye oreos and KFC, hello raweos and wild game)
get a cat
get a car
my mom has been reading suzanne somers' book
"breakthrough" (actually, a really interesting read). she has since thrown out some of the less savoury items in her cupboard, including
ac'cent. i gave her some pink salt i had, told her it would be a good replacement for the stuff she uses, and she seemed really receptive to it. small changes.
anyway, that's my day in a nutshell (minus a partial scrabble game with charles).
later ladies and gents.
