Spring is coming to a close now, the Big Leaf Maple Tree is wearing its full cloak of photon snagging green sugar factories and the grasses in the surrounding meadow are turning to California gold a little early because of the drier winter we experienced.
Although Summer is still officially 8 days away I mark the beginning of my summer with the arrival of the first bins of organic seeded red watermelons at the local markets. It's the time of year when my diet shifts away from citrus, imported mangoes, bananas and my dwindled stash of last Fall's crop of Southern California dates to the fruits of summer: melons, cherries, peaches, nectarines and savory fruits like summer squashes, cucumbers, and tomatoes.
Summer is the busiest work season for me and I'm trying to put in as many hours on the projects that have come my way in hopes of establishing a nest egg for next winter. My intention is to have a winter vacation someplace warm where there is fresh tropical fruit. Right now I'm thinking about trying to find someplace in Hawaii where I can do some work exchange to offset my travel costs. WWOOFing is a possibility, so I joined and got their catalog of organic farms.
As Spring was drawing to a close I was one mouse click from leaving GITMR. The melodrama that ensued from Durian Rider's actions and the reactions of those who were sucked into the fray was disheartening and in the view of my Raw Humour Wingman Pete I was left with a Vitamin L-12 deficiency. Dear friends left this site or were themselves about to pull the plug on GITMR. Something stopped me from leaving and I am still unclear exactly what that was. However, I am clear about one thing - there is always something new to learn here. And if we aren't learning and growing boredom will soon set in and begin sucking the health and vigor from our lives.
