Give it to me Raw

So, lately I've been having the oddest cravings for cooked food, especially, of all things, bread and pasta. I have no interest in meat anymore, so that's not an issue, but this new weird desire for bread and pasta is no fun. I've been having HUGE mental battles with myself about craving the pasta but knowing it's bad and wanting to eat it...you get the picture. I actually broke down and had some pasta last night, and I just want to know why am I undergoing a relapse into cooked foods?!?!?!? I've been almost a year now eating raw, and quite frankly, I would have thought I'd be past this sort of thing. Does anyone have an insight into what is going on with me? Is it parasites, not enough fatty raw foods, what? Has anyone else encountered this problem?!?!?

Thank you so much for the support everyone! It's nice to be able to get advice from other raw foodies.

Feeling guilty, self-sabotage, and/or being stressed out is probably (and I can drop the 'probably') far more detrimental to our health and well-being than eating a big old fat donut and loving it. Being gentle with ourselves, and going at a pace that enables us to love, appreciate, and accept ourselves right where we are on this journey is one of the most beneficial things we can do. I have found that when I bring understanding to a thought that stresses me out ( a stressful thought like, "if I eat this I'll blow everything"), that stressful thought, and all its accoutrements, leave me. So, be kind to your beautiful self. Take one step at a time, focus on the progress you're making, and on the deliciousness of the food nature provides, and how good it makes you feel, and this will bring relief. You can also try drinking a large glass of water when these cravings overwhelm, because most times we're actually craving hydration more than food.

so i haven't been craving that stuff, but i did choose to eat some pizza the other night. i planned it out well in advance and so it wasn't a cave-in. i decided to see how i felt with this food after being pretty much totally raw for a couple weeks.....low and behold i felt gross afterwards. had that full feeling and a little bit of upset stomach. no guilt because i chose to do it-didn't give in. i am kinda thinking that i may do this now and again though because it will remind me why i have chosen not to eat that stuff all the time. perspective i guess.
i wish i could say what may be causing this for you...when a craving hits would it be helpful to eat raw gourmet-nutty/fattier meals to try and divert your attention?
i know i have to be careful when i eat something that i don't really want in my body, cause then i crave it more and the situation snowballs. try to divert your attention for at least 15 minutes. i think green smoothies are an excellent way for me-fast and easy to whip up and they are good, fill you up and make you feel cleaner.

Are you drinking green smoothies they get rid of cravings. In the last 5 years it has been on and off raw for me but now that I found green smoothies it is much easier. Each time I broke raw I came back stronger that raw is for me. So it is all good. Sometimes we have to get away from something to fully appreciate it.

If you have to give in you could do manna bread and sprouted tortillas they are so delish. I used them for transition foods or maybe just do the pasta and see how your body feels you will probally run back to raw.
Also brown rice was known to give ancient japanese warriors their strength.

Be easy on yourself and listen to your body . Just make whole food choices and as much raw as possible.. It is better to give in to a little craving then deprive youself and then swing the other way to junk. I have done that and learned I do not want to do that again.
Sometimes my body will crave salmon so much I will actually start drewling when I smell it so I have a little. I think it is not productive to say I will never have a food again. I mean never say never.

It sounds like you are not eating enough fruit. If you eat more sweet fruit, your desire for candy and other processed foods that are sweet will go away.
